Information: New Knoxville-Rev. Richard B. MECKSTROTH, 92, of
209 W. Spring St., died at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday at Joint
Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born
May 26, 1891, in Auglaize County, to Charles and Anna LAMMERS
MECKSTROTH. In 1918, he married Hulda OELRICH, who died in
1936. In 1938, he married Ruth KATTMAN DRO, who died in 1976.
Surviving are two sons, Donald MECKSTROTH of Shaker Heights
and Richard MECKSTROTH of Houston, Texas; two foster
daughters, Mary CASTLEBERRY of Charlotte, N.C. and Barbara
COOLEY of Gary, Ind; seven grandchildren; seven
greatgrandchildren; a brother, Jacob MECKSTROTH of Columbus;
and a sister, Meta HOGE of New Knoxville. Rev. MECKSTROTH
graduated with a AB degree from Ohio State University in 1916
and was a graduate of Central Theological Seminary Dayton. He
was ordained as a minister in 1918. Following his retirement
in 1959, he served as an intern pastor in 13 area churches.
He was honored in 1976 as New Knoxville Citizen of the Year.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United
Church of Christ, New Knoxville, Rev. Roger Perl of Tiffin,
officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 11
a.m. Saturday until time of services. Burial will be in
Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call at the
Vornholt Funeral Home, New Knxoville, from 1 to 9 p.m.
Friday. Memorials may be made to the church or to the
American Heart Association.

Information: St. Marys- Danny Joe MCGEE, 48, 313 N. Front
St., died at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at his
residence following a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 14,
1950 in Mercer County to Howard and Martha SKINNER MCGEE. His
mother survives in St. Marys. On Dec. 20, 1970, he married
Vicki MILLER and she survives at the residence. He is also
survived by a son Shawn and Kathy MCGEE of St. Marys; two
daughters, Danielle HAMMITT of St. Marys, Natalie MCGEE and
fiance Chad WEDDING of St. Marys; a sister, Patricia COOK of
Grabil, Ind; two half-brothers, John MCGEE of Tipp City and
Ed PFEISTER of Ft. Wayne, Ind; parents-in-law, Tom and
Beverly MILLER of St. Marys; five grandchildren. Mr MCGEE was
a 1968 graduate of Memorial High School and served in the U.
S. Army where he was an operating room specialist. He was
employed as a purchasing manager at Grubb Construction in
McComb. He was the former owner of McGee's Cafteria, the Old
Canal Inn Restaurant and McGee Carriage Services, all of St.
Marys. He was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ
in St. Marys, a member of Mercer Lodge 121 F&AM, American
Legion Post 323, and the GEAPS organization. Funeral servcies
will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev.
Nathan Wierwille officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday at Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be
directed to Mercer County Hospice or the church.

Additional Information: New Knoxville-Ben NIEMEYER, 83, 306
S. Mill St., New Knoxville, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday,
February 29, in the Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, of
complications. He had been a resident of the nursing home for
six weeks. Born February 26, 1893, southeast of New
Knoxville, Auglaize County, he was the son of William and
Fredericka (VOHS) NIEMEYER. May 7, 1914 he married Meta
STUKENBROK, who survives. Other survivors, besides his wife
are: one daughter, Mrs. Norville (Joyce) FREYMUTH of Route 6,
Wapakoneta and six grandchildren. Four brothers, three
sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death. Mr.
NIEMEYER was a retired farmer and served as gatekeeper at
Camp St. Marys since 1958. He was Sunday School
superintendent for six years, Deacon for six years. Elder for
six years and president of the Consistory for two years. He
also served as Sunday School Teacher for a number of years.
Mr. NIEMEYER served three terms as Washington Township
Trustee. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Wednesday from the First United Church of Christ in New
Knoxville with the Reverend Gary J. Kwiatek officiating.
Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call at the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen,
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday
when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state
until time of services.

Elsie M. NIEMEYER, 74, of Rt.2, Wapakoneta, died at 1 a.m.
today at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She had been ill
for the past year and had been hospitalized eight days. Born
September 29, 1904 in Washington Township, Auglaize County,
she was the daughter of Henry and Emma (SCHROER) BUDDEMEYER.
On November 6, 1926, she was married to Gustave L. NIEMEYER,
who survives. Also surviving are five children, Mrs. Verlin
(Martha) STRASBURG, of Rt. 1, St. Marys; Robert, of Rt. 2,
Wapakoenta; Mrs. Ronald (Donna) MANN of Rt. 2, Wapakoneta;
George, of Rt. 2, Wapakoneta; and Mrs. Vernon (Julia) PAUL,
of New Bremen; 16 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren;
one sister, Mrs. Harold (Adeline) LECHNER of Columbus; and
one brother, Oliver, of New Knoxville. Mrs. NIEMEYER was a
lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ, New
Knoxville and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class
and the Women's Guild of the church. She was also a member of
Farm Bureau Council No. 26. Funeral services will be Saturday
at 2 p.m. in the church, the Rev. Richard W. Sather
officiating. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New
Knoxville. Friends may call the Vornholt Funeral Home, New
Knoxville, from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and until 11 a.m.
Saturday, when the body will be moved to the church to lie in

Additional Information: Gustave L. NIEMEYER, 85, of Bay Road,
Wapakoneta, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 1990,
in Auglaize Acres following complications of a stroke. He was
born June 10, 1905, in Auglaize County, the son of Henry and
Annaa (KUCK) NIEMEYER, On NOvemeber 6, 1926, he married Elsie
BUDDEMEYER, who died March 7, 1979. Survivors include five
children; Mrs. Verlin (Martha) STRASBURG of St. Marys, Robert
NIEMEYER, George NIEMEYER, and Mrs. Ronald (Donna) MANN, all
of Wapakoenta, and Mrs. Vernon (Julie) PAUL of New Bremen; 16
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs.
Lenora Gritzmaker of Botkins. Two brothers, Florenz and
Oliver, preceded him in death. A retired farmer, Mr. NIEMEYER
also was employed as a school bus driver for 20 years. He was
a life member of the First United Church of Christ, New
Knxoville, where he had served as a former deacon and elder.
Mr. NIEMEYER was also involved with the Comrade Bible School
Class, the Farm Bureau Council 26, and the Moulton Gun Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the
First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with Rev.
Nathan Wierwille officiating. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe
Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. Friday in the Vornholt-Miller Fuenral Home, New
Knoxville. Memorial contributions may be directed to the

90, of Lima, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd
Home of Fostoria. She was born on Jan. 26, 1901 in New
Knoxville, the daughter of Henry and Mary FERLEMAN LAMMERS.
On April 21, 1925, she married Clarence R. NIEMEYER, who died
Feb. 6, 1976. Mrs. NIEMEYER was a homemaker. She was a member
of First United Church of Christ. Survivors include one
daughter, Mrs. Richard (Kathleen) WATSON of Toledo; four
grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Services will be
at 11 a.m. Saturday at Siferd Westwood Chapel, with Rev.
Morris E. Driggers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery (Lima). Friends may call from 10 a.m. until
time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial

for 2 p.m. today at the Siferd Westwood Chapel, Lima, for
Clarence R. NIEMEYER, 76, 304 Singleton Ave., Lima, who died
Friday at 6:15 p.m. Death occurred at the Oaks Convalescent
Center, Lima, following an extended illness. The Rev. Richard
Vitz conducted the services and burial was in Memorial Park
Cemetery, Lima. Mr. NIEMEYER was born May 27, 1899, in New
Knoxville, the son of Henry and Dorothy LUTTERBEIN NIEMEYER.
On April 21, 1925, he was married to Salome LAMMERS, who
survives in Lima. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
Richard (Kathleen) WATSON, Toledo; four grandchildren, one
great grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Adalma)
KATTERHENRY, St. Marys; Mrs. Harry (Rebecca) HOEPER, Lima;
Mrs. Wilbur (Frances) THOMAS, Lima; and two brothers,
Sylvanus NIEMEYER, Waynesfield, and Kermit NIEMEYER, Lima.
The deceased was an employee of the Leader Store in Lima for
48 years and had been the store's appliance manager. He was a
member of the Elks Lodge No. 585, Lima, and the First United
Church of Christ.

Information: Stanley M. NOLTE, 52, of 16996 St. Rt 198,
Wapakoenta and formerly of Bevercreek, died at his residence
at 10:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, after a two year battle
with renal cell cancer. He was born Oct. 28, 1944, in Sidney,
to Donald and Lorraine (ALSPACH) NOLTE, and his mother
survives in St. Marys. On Oct. 22, 1966, he married Kay Ellen
ELSHOFF, and she survives. He is also survived by two sons
and one daughter-in-law, Jay T. NOLTE, Dayton, and Craig A.
and Heather NOLTE, Columbus, in-laws, Lester and Mary
ELSHOFF, New Knoxville; and a brother and sister-in-law, Tom
and Jolene NOLTE, New Knoxville. He was preceded in death by
his father. Mr. NOLTE granduated from New Knoxville High
school in 1963, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was
owner of Afford-A-Call, Lima, and more recently the owner of
International Telemanagement Group of Lima. He was a member
of the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, where he
played a vital role in the operation of the church's radio
ministry program, which is broadcast live every week. He was
a member of the Lima Noon Optimist Club, and a trustee of the
"Count Your Blessings" Foundation of Lima. Mr.
NOLTE enjoyed traveling. Services will be held at 4 p.m.
Tuesday at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the
Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ in New
Knoxville, with Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will
follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Memorial

EGBERT. Mr. NUESMEYER was retired from Ametek Westchester
Plastics where he had worked in shipping/receiving. He had
been a truck driver at the former Fisher Cheese Company and
recently worked for Moulton Gas Company. He was a member of
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moulton where he was a
deacon, elder and trustee. Services will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at the church with the Rev. David J. Williamson
officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

NUESMEYER and he died June 18, 1991. She is survived by a
daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Paul WIBBELER, St.
Marys; three grandchildren, Beth (Doug) CROUCH, Doug WIBBELER
and Bruce WIBBELER, all of St. Marys; three great-
grandchildren, Aaron, Kaitlyn and Lauren Jean CROUCH, and a
sister Cleo FRITZ, Lima. She was preceded in death by seven
brothers, John , Henry, Ralph, Orville, Glenn, Harlan, Carl,
and two sisters, Grace and Velma. Mrs. NUESMEYER, a
homemaker, formerly worked at New Bremen Creamery. She was a
member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral
Home, St. Marys, with Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial

75, of 326 Cleveland Ave. St. Marys, died at 11:40 p.m.
Tuesday, in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital wwhere
he had been hospitalized for five weeks. Born September 7,
1915, in New Knoxville; he was the son of William and Mahala
(STUKENBROK) NUESMEYER. On May 18, 1939, he married Emogene
LISK, who survives. Also surviving are her daughter and son-
in-law, Barbara and Paul WIBBELER of St. Marys; three
grandchildren, Beth CROUCH and Doug and Bruce WIBBELER, all
of St. Marys; a great-grandson, Aaron CROUCH; two brothers,
Robert and Forest NUESMEYER of Route 2, Wapakoneta; and one
sister, Mrs. Gary (LaRose) THEIS of Lafayette. One sister
Mildred EGBERT preceded him in death. Mr. NUESMEYER was a
retired engineer for the Nickel Plate Railroad. He was a
member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church of which
he served as a trustee. Mr. NUESMEYER was nationally known
for his knife making. He was an avid fisherman and gardener
and a member of the St. Marys Men's Garden Club, St. Marys
Tree Commmission, the Moulton Gun Club, the Old Fashioned
Antique Farmers and assisted in the building of the old canal
boat, the Belle of St. Marys. Funeral services will be held
at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home with Rev.
David Woodyard officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven
Memory Gardens. His family will receive friends in the
Funeral home from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Memorial
contributions may be directed to the Wayne Street United
Methodist Church.

St. New Bremen, died at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday in Joint Township
District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to
cancer. He had been seriously ill for two weeks. Born Oct 29,
1894, he was the son of Frederick and Minnie (Heil) PAPE. He
was married Aug. 22, 1917 to Hilda DICKE. She died April 6,
1949. Surviving are four sons, Carl PAPE Jr. and David PAPE
of New Bremen; Don PAPE of Harrison; and James PAPE LaMarida,
Calif; nine grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren, one
brother Alvin, New Bremen. A brother Adolph and a sister
Linda HOVERMAN, preceded Mr. PAPE in death. He was a member
of the New Bremen Senior Center Inc., The Woodmen of the
World Camp 149, New Bremen; the American Legion Post 241, New
Bremen; the St. Paul United Church of Christ; and was a World
War I Veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. PAPE had been employed
with the Ohio Highway Department and had been retired for 18
years. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Vornholt
Funeral Home, New Bremen, with the Rev. Larry K. May
officiating. Burial will be in the German Protestant
Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m.

Additional Information: Two Auglaize countians lost their
lives in automobile accidents within the last 24 hours.
Adolph PAPE 79, 121 N. Water Street, New Bremen, was fatally
injured at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday in a two car collision at
highways 66 and 119, north of Minster. Roger H. MILLER, 37,
309 West Silver Street, Wapakoneta was killed about 6 a.m.
today (12-8)in a one-car accident on U.S 25 just south of the
interchange of U.S. 30 at Lima.... Mr. PAPE was a retired
boiler engineer and machinist of the Beatrice Food plant at
New Bremen. He was born Dec.10, 1881, in New Bremen, a son of
Frederick and Mina HEIL PAPE. On April 24, 1920 he married
Mariann BLANKE who survives along with two daughters, Mrs.
Ned (Marjorie) METZGER and Mrs. Everett (Barbara) SCHMIDT,
both of New Bremen, one granddaughter, a sister, Mrs. Linda
HOVERMAN, Delphos and two brothers, Alvin and Carl PAPE, New
Bremen. There are many friends who share the family's
bereavement. Mr. PAPE was a member of St. Paul's United

Information: Leroy L. RODEHEFFER, 80, 830 Gethsemane, St.
Marys, died of a heart condition at 10:06 p.m. Sunday, Feb.
10, 1985 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. He had
been sick for the past four years. He was born Sept 16, 1904
in Washington Township in Auglaize County to Lewis and Hannah
(NEUMAN) RODEHEFFER. On Feb 3, 1927 he married Edna SCHROER
who survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Alice)
KITTEL, New Bremen and a son, Wilbur RODEHEFFER, New Bremen,
and three grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Esther PAUL, New Bremen; Mrs. Dale (Lena) PETERMAN of St.
Marys and a brother, Earl RODEHEFFER of Bowling Green. MR.
RODEHEFFER was a retired farmer and was also retired from the
Weston Paper Mill. He moved to St. Marys in 1965 from a farm
northeast of New Bremen. He was a member of the First United
Church of Christ in New Knoxville. Funeral services will be
held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Vornholt Funeral Home. New
Knoxville, with the Rev. Jon R. Coddington officiating.
Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 p.m. to
4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday until the time of
the services. The preferred memorial is the church memmorial
fund.

Additional Information: Relatives in St. Marys received word
today of the death of Mrs. Amelia ROBERTS, 80, of Milton,
West Virginia. Mrs. ROBERTS died last evening at 9:30 at her
home. She had been bedfast since February following a stroke.
Mrs. ROBERTS was a native of New Bremen, born September 25,
1880 to the late August and Anna TANGEMAN HEIL. She moved as
a young girl to West Virginia where she had spent the rest of
her life. Her husband, Harry ROBERTS died in 1920. Surviving
are one son, Richard ROBERTS, Milton, two grandchildren, two
brothers, Ferd and Herb HEIL, of this city, two stepbrothers,
Harvey SHUSTER, Kettlersville and George SHUSTER of
Wapakoneta. One sister and one brother are deceased. Funeral
services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in
Milton where the deceased was a member. Burial will be in the
Milton cemetery. Friends may call at the Heck funeral home in

RUWOLDT, 69, of 1035 East Columbia Street, widow of Charles
RUWOLDT, died this morning at 4:40 at the Joint Township
Memorial Hospital, here, of carcinoma, She had been in ill
health for one year. A native of Washington Township,
Auglaize County, she was born May 25, 1886 to William and
Louisa THEES WIBBELER. She was married to the late Charles
RUWOLDT on July 2, 1914. Surviving are eight children,
Raymond and Elmer, St. Marys, Arthur, Detroit, Mich., Wilson,
St. Marys, Mrs. Gerald (Marcella) JOHNSON, Jackson, Mich.,
Mrs. Harold (Frances) AHLERS, New Bremen, Mrs. Howard (Ruby)
HUNT, Cincinnati, and Vernon RUWOLDT of St. Marys, twenty
five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a brother,
Benjamin WIBBELER of St. Marys. A son Oliver, preceded her in
death in 1953 and her brother, Louis, died in 1929. Mrs.
RUWOLDT was confirmed in the First Evangelical and Reformed
Church in New Knoxville in 1901. Funeral services will be
conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Yoder and
Long Funeral Home with the Rev. D.A. Bode officiating. Burial
will be in Elmgrove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Yoder
and Long Funeral Home any time after Wednesday afternoon at 2
o'clock until the time of the services Thursday.

Monday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St.
Marys. Death was due to complications following an extended
illness. Born Sept 30, 1913 in New Bremen, he was the son of
William and Clara WIERWILLE AHLERS. His mother survives. On
June 6, 1936 he married Frances RUWOLDT and she is living.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jeanette GUFFEY, New
Bremen; Mrs. Homer (Roselyn) STUTZMAN, Botkins; Mrs. Ernest
(Elaine) COVAULT, Anna; one son Willliam AHLERS, New Bremen,;
11 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Wilbert (Ethel) SUDMAN,
Route 1, New Bremen, Mrs. Lucille LUTTERBECK, New Bremen.
One grandson is deceased. Mr. AHLERS belonged to the Home
Benefit Association, New Bremen; the Woodmen of the World,
New Bremen and St. Paul United Cnurch of Christ, New Bremen.
He was self-employed for 24 years in New Bremen as a refuse
hauler. He also worked for five years for Beatrice Foods in
New Bremen. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg
Funeral Home, New Bremen with the Rev. Thomas Ward
officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, St.
Marys. Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
at the funeral home. There will be a Woodmen of the World

76, 550 Locust Street, St. Marys, died last evening at 10:30
at the Joint Township Memorial Hospital, where he had been a
patient for five days. He had been in ill health since
November. He was born July 23, 1895, in Botkins, a son of
Charles and Caroline KATTERHENRY RUVOLDT (RUWOLDT). On April
28, 1928, he married Lulu M. HOWELL who survives with two
sons, James RUVOLDT and Samuel RUVOLDT, both of St. Marys,
and a daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Marlene) SHELBY, St. Marys; four
grand children; two great grandchildren; one brother, Wilson
RUVOLDT, Lima and two half-sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Marcella)
JOHNSON, Jackson, Mich., and Mrs. Harold (Frances) AHLERS,
New Bremen. A son, three brothers, one half-brother, and one-
half sister preceded him in death. Mr. RUVOLDT was a retired
Goodyear employee, a member of the St. Paul's United Church
of Christ, the Robert Lee Griner Post 9289 of VFW., the
Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 767. He was a member of
Company K of the U.S. Army in the Mexican Border Skirmish of
1916, and of the Rainbow Division, 37th Regiment, in 1917, in
World War I. On December 29, 1918, he was awarded the French
medal for bravery, the Croix de Guerre, for rescuing the
wounded under heavy attack during the German offensive in
Champagne, while with the 16th Regiment of the American
infantry. He served in France, Germany, and Belgium. Funeral
services are arranged for Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Yoder-
Long and Folk Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Poetter
officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens,
where full military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post.

Additional Information: Vernon W. RUWOLDT, 47, of 814 East
Spring St., St. Marys, died suddenly at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday
in the Toledo Medical College Hospital where he had been
transferred the day before in the city emergency ambulance
from Joint Township Memorial Hospital. Mr. RUWOLDT had become
ill two weeks ago and had been in the local hospital since
that time. Born December 7, 1923, in St.Marys, he was the son
of Charles and Rosena WIBBLER RUWOLDT. On December 31, 1943,
he married Ruth Marie FETTERS and she survives with four sons
and a daughter. They are Jerry Lee of New Knoxville, James
Allen of St. Marys, Michael Eugene and Bobby Joe at home, and
Mrs. Roger (Mary Kay) PARENT, Jr. of St. Marys. Also
surviving are six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Harold

graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School, and a 1971

in Wapakoneta with the Rev. Steven L. Nelson officiating.

of her daughter in Celina, following an extended illness. She
was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Mendon, to Steward and Loma
(ARCHER) KNAPP. On Aug 3, 1934, she married Kenneth SCHAMP,
who survives at the residence of his daughter in Celina.
Additional survivors incude three daughters, Yvonne PARKER of
St. Marys, Patti (John) GRIEST of Beavercreek and Maddonna
PETTIT of Celina; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by two brothers, two sisters, and one son-in-law,
Robert PARKER. Mrs. SCHAMP was a professional musician,
having served as the church organist of the Wayne Street
United Methodist Church in St. Marys for many years. She was
also an accompanist and organist at Miller Funeral Home in
St.Marys. She was also a baker, having prepared pies for
several local restaurants for many years. She was a 1932
graduate of Mendon High School. She was a member of Order of
Eastern Star 119, the Goodyear Chorus, both in St. Marys and
the Wayne Street United Methodist Church. Funeral services
will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wayne Street United
Merthodist Church in St. Marys with the Rev. Don Ricard
officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, in St.

and operator of the former Schwartz Brothers Garage in Lock
Two with his brother Louis until his retirement. He had
served in the U.S.Army with the 191st Tank Battalion
stationed in Germany and Italy during World WAr II. Mass of
Chirstion Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the
Church of the Holy Redeemer with the Rev. David Conlon

Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000 at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys.
She was born May 30, 1908, in Putnam County, to Alex and
Clara (FENDER) DANGLER. On Feb. 20, 1932, she married Lewis
C. ALTSTAETTER, who died Feb. 6, 1984. Survivors include
three sons, Roanld ALTSTAETTER of Stafford, Va., Leroy
ALTSTAETTER of Botkins and Gordon ALTSTAETTER of Norwalk,
Calif.; four daughters, Phyllis ALT of Shelby, Vivian DINGES
of Edinburgh, Va., Joyce EDELSON of Riva, Md., and Luemma
PEEK of Winchester, Pa.; 32 grandchildren; 33
greatgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Mary STAUFFER of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by
three children, Nona SYBERT, Martin ALTSTAETTER and Emerson
ALTSTAETTER. Mrs. ALTSTAETTER was a homemaker, who, along
with her husband, owned and operated the L&H Restaurant
in Botkins for 15 years. She had taught eight grades of
school in a one-room schoolhouse in Continental, prior to her
marriage. She was a graduate of Continental High School and
Defiance College. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
Burial will follow at Altstaetter Cemetery, Hillville Road,
Columbus Grove. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8
p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to
the charity of the donor's choice.

died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 13, 1924 to Fred and Myrtle RAMGEE
MCDERMITT in St. Marys. She is survived by two daughters;
Jean and Charles MILLET of Bradford, Carol and Donald
CHRISTIAN of Bradford; a son, James NEITZELT of West Milton;
two sisters; Hazel WEITHOLTER and Rose FLEMING, both of
Celina; six grandchildren;and eight great-grandchildren. She
had 11 years service as cook with the Bradford High School,
was a member of the A.B. Cole Post American Legion Ladies
Auxiliary in Covington, a member of the Bradford Senior
Citzens and a member of the Bradford United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Stocker
Fraley Funeral Home in Bradford with Rev. Aaron Chivington
officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery in

LEHMKUHL, wife of Ernst FUERING of Dayton, died at her home
in Dayton, Monday, April 13th, of a protracted illness. Age

19th, 1888. Their only child preceeded her in death. Burial
took place Wednesday, April 15th at the Lock Three Cemetery,
near here, amid a large concourse of sympathizers. Rev. M.

Wapakoneta- Forrest E. (Frosty) STOLTE, 79, St. Marys Living
Center and formerly of Wagner Street, died at 6:40 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Joint Township District Memorial
Hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1920 in St. Marys to William
and Sarah S. CLAUSING STOLTE Jr. He is survived by one
daughter, Rodney Ann and Robert BENSMAN of Minster; two
sisters: Dorothy STIENECKER of St. Marys and Charlene
RASMUSSEN of West Covina, Ca.; five grandchildren: Mark, Amy,
Brandi, Jason BENSMAN; six great grandchildren. A jeweler and
watchmaker, Mr. STOLTE had owned and operated the Stolte
Jewelry Store in Wapakoneta for over 30 year. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during WWII. He
attended the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. He
was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #691 and a
former member of the Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce, the
Business Men's Association, the Kiwanis Club and the Flying
Farmers Club, all of Wapakoneta. He was a 1937 graduate of
New Knoxville High School. Funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. Monday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home in
Wapakoneta. Burial will follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery where
military graveside services will be conducted by the VFW.

residence following a short illness at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 24. He
was born July 5, 1938, in Minster, to Mathias and Henrietta

205 South Wayne Street, widely known here through years of
service as a saleswoman, died suddenly of a coronary embolism
at 6:30 o'clock this morning at Lima Memorial hospital. She
had been ill five days. Mrs. QUELLHORST was 59 years of age.
She was born April 22, 1890, southeast of St. Marys, a
daughter of the late William and Mary HENNING KOEBEL and had
lived all of her life in this community. On Jan. 15, 1915,
she was married to Herbert C. QUELLHORST, now deceased. Left
to mourn her death are an only daughter, Mrs. Ferd (Dorothy)
SCHWEPE, the son-in-law, Ferd SCHWEPE, of St. Marys, and one
sister, Mrs. A.J. (Maude) KUMPF of Columbus. A sister Anna,
preceded her in death. There are many friends. Mrs.
QUELLHORST was employed as a clerk at Clear's Shoe Store
until the time of her fatal illness. Previously she clerked
for Armstrong Shoe Store. She is remembered, too, through her
association with the Quellhorst Confectionery in former
years. As a saleswoman she was courteous and helpful, winning
many friends through her service. She was a member of the
Methodist church, the Woman's Society of Christian Service
and the Ladies Bible Class. Funeral services will be held
Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist church. The
Rev. William H. Huber will officiate. Burial will take place
in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home
Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon and evening, and Monday up
until the hour of the services.

from the First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, for Mrs.
Mary Louise (Mollie) ZIMMERMAN, 72, who died at her home at
14 Harrison Street, Wapakoneta, yesterday. She had been
bedfast for two weeks. A daughter of the late Wallace and
Mary Jane BERRY YOUNG, she was born December 16, 1876, in
Moulton township. She was married twice, her first husband
being David HARRUFF and her second husband Jeff ZIMMERMAN.
Surviving with Mr. ZIMMERMAN are four sons, Roy of Missouri;

O, April 11,-Infirmities of old age claimed the life of Mrs.
Katherine Margaret BURMEISTER, 85, Saturday afternoon at 4:30
o'clock in the St. Marys Nursing Home where she had been a
patient for the past five weeks. Mrs. BURMEISTER had been
ailing for five years. Three and a half years she resided
with a nephew, Frank BUCKLOH and for one year with her
granddaughter, Mrs. Charles HEIL. The deceased was born
January 13, 1864, south of New Bremen, a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Henry FUELLING. On February 5, 1908, she was
married to Fred BURMEISTER who died November 13, 1932.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Alma TEALLE of Flint,
Mich., Two stepsons, Herb BURMEISTER of Sidney and Edwin
BURMEISTER of New Bremen; seven grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical
and Reformed Church and of the Ladies Aid. Funeral services
will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Gilberg
and Hegemeier funeral home with Rev. E.H. Bassler

who died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs.

illness caused her death. She was born near New Bremen on
January 27, 1863, a daughter of the late Albert and Maria
HARMS TANGEMAN. On October 12, 1882, she was married to John
POPPE who preceded her in death in 1913. Surviving are three
children, Mrs. Irwin (Ida) NEUMAN, Emil POPPE and Edwin POPPE
of New Bremen; eight grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. There are also many friends. She was a member
of the St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church. Rev. E.

Information: Minster, O, April 11-Adam SCHMIDT, 87, died at
4:20 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home on Houston Rural
Route 1, located on the Russia pike east of Route 48 and west
of Route 66. Bedfast since January 18, he died of
complications. Funeral services will be held Tueday morning
at 9 o'clock from the St. Remy church, Russia, with Rev.
Frank Ratterman officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Mr. SCHMIDT wwho was engaged in farming, moved from
Mercer County to Shelby County 58 years ago. He was born at
Fryburg, Ohio, December 20, 1861, a son of the late Adam and
Mary SCHAFFER SCHMIDT. On April 21, 1885, he married Anna N.
WERLING who is left to mourn his passing. They would have
celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this month.
Surviving with the widow are these children, Henry of Sidney;
Mrs. Wilferd (Mary) MARCHAL of Russia; Mrs. Harold (Lena)
COLBY of Coldwater; Mrs. Herman (Jospehine) AHRNS of Ft.
Loramie, John S., at home and Henry SEIBERT of Coldwater.
Two sons Peter and William are deceased. There are 33
grandchildren and 70 greatgrandchildren also surviving. He
was a member of the St. Joseph Sodality and the St. Remy
church. The body was removed from the Heinl Funeral home to

struck in Ft. Loramie Saturday when Paul Franklin WIETHOLTER,
25 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer WIETHOLTER drowned in
shallow water at Koverman's Landing, Lake Loramie, where the
family moved from St. Marys last July. Mrs. WIETHOLTER
discovered the body of her son partially submerged in the
water a short distance from the WIETHOLTER cottage. The
victim and his brother Daniel, 4, had wandered from home
after lunch. Shortly afterwards Mrs. WIETHOLTER noticed Paul
was not in sight. She walked to the water's edge where she
found his body. Artificial respiration was administered for
nearly two hours after the child was removed from the lake
but without success. He was born in New Bremen on March 13,
1947. Surviving with the grief striken parents. Elmer and
Hazel MCDERMITT WIETHOLTER are two sisters, Lois 5, and Nancy
Lou, 3 months, a brother Daniel, 4, the grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred WIETHOLTER and Mr. and Mrs. Fred MCDERMITT of St.
Marys and the great gradmother, Mrs. Martha RAMGA of Lima.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30
o'clock from the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, and at 2
o'clock from the St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church,
New Bremen, with Rev. Elmer Fahringer officiating. Burial
will be in the Schwaberow cemetery, east of New Bremen.

Lewis AUFDERHAAR, age 61, died at 2:15 o'clock Wednesday
afternoon at her home three miles east of New Knoxville on
St. Marys R.R.3. She had been ill six months suffering from a
complication of diseases. Mrs. AUFDERHAAR was the former
Margaretha Sophia HEIDT, a daughter of the late August and
Magdella HEIDT. She was born in Auglaize County on April 2,
1888, and was married to Lewis AUFDERHAAR on August 27, 1908.
He is left to mourn her death along with there four children,
Albert, at home; Mrs. Enoch SCHROER, of near St. Marys on
R.R.3; Wesley, at home; and Mrs. Orlando FLEDDERJOHANN of
Lima. There are six grandchildren. Three sisters and a
brother also surviving are Mrs. John TIMMERMAN, R.R.1,
Botkins; Henry HEIDT, St. Marys R.R.3; Miss Lucinda HEIDT,
New Bremen; and Mrs. Arnold WARNER, New Bremen R.R.1 There
are many friends. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services are arranged for Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the residence and 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist
church with Dr. D.A. BODE officiating due to the illness of
Dr. George H. Smith. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe cemetery.
Friends may call at the residence any time after noon
