Information: Jackson Center-Frank B. WILSON, 90, 512 N. Main
St. died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at 11:20 p.m. at the
Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 5, 1906, in
Jackson Center, son of Lloyd and Catherine (BAUGHMAN) WILSON.
On Aug 15, 1940, he married the former Wava STUBER. She died
April 21, 1974. On Feb. 7, 1975 ,he married Adella S. (KUCK)
HEFFNER and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter,
Emily WILSON of Edina, Minn., and a son Shelby of Palmyra,
Pa; a stepdaugther, Mrs. Carrie TODD of Block Island, R.I.
and a stepson, Frank HEFFNER of Wapakoneta; three
grandchildren; two step granddaughters and a step great-
granddaughter. Mr. WILSON graduated from Miami University and
attended Harvard University. He taught four years at Miami
and 10 years at Ohio State University, Lima Branch. He
retired from the former Citizen's Baughman National Bank in
Jackson Center, after 26 years service. He was a member of
Emanuel Lutheran Church in Montra. His body was cremated and
the remains will be interred Thursday at Greenlawn Cemetery,
Wapakoneta. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 11
a.m. at the church with Pastor Robert Miller officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Van Horn Funeral Home
in Jackson Center. Memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran
Church and/or the Jackson Center Library.

Additional Information: Willis L. WITTENBRINK, 66, of 116 N.
Franklin Street, New Bremen, died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday May 7,
1989, in St. Rita's Medical Ceneter, Lima. He was born
November 29, 1922, in New Bremen, the son of Theodore and
Louis (BUSHMAN) WITTENBRINK. On April 15, 1950, he married
Bernice WIEHE, who survives. Survivors also include two sons,
Ted WITTENBRINK, Pickerington and Kurt WITTENBRINK, Buffalo,
New York; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
one daughter, one son, and one brother, who all died in
infancy. Mr. WITTENBRINK retired in 1982 from Amos Press,
Sidney. He had served on the New Bremen Village Council for
12 years. He was also a life member of Eagles Lodge 767, St.
Marys. A member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Mr.
WITTENBRINK was also a member of the board of trustees for
the German-Protestant Cemetery Association. He was a past
member of the New Bremen German Township Fire Department.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at St.
Paul United Chruch of Christ, New Bremen, with Rev. Wade J.
Schemmel officiating. Burial will be in German Protestant
Cemetery. Viewing will be from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday May 9,
at Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, and from 8:30 a.m. until
the time of service on Wednesday at St. Paul United Church of
Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to either the St.
Paul United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or to the American
Diabetes Association.

Additional Information: George S. SULLIVAN, 91, 1114 Motz
St., St. Marys, was pronounced dead at 11:24 a.m. Thursday,
Nov. 9, 2000, at his residence by the St. Marys Fire
Department. He was born Aug. 11, 1909, in St. Marys, the son
of Emory and Clara (HERTENSTEIN) SULLIVAN. On March 21, 1942,
he married Betty JONES, who survives. Other survivors include
five sons, Larry (Sue) SULLIVAN, Bob (Sue) SULLIVAN, Terry
SULLIVAN and Tim SULLIVAN , all of St.Marys, and Louis
SULLIVAN of Celina; three daughters, Sue (Pearl) REED of
St.Marys, Judith (Ray) SLONE of New Knoxville, and Lynne
DIRCKSEN of Celina; a brother, Orlando SULLIVAN of St. Marys;
a sister, Helen MOORE of Decatur, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and
12 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother,
Carl SULLIVAN, and three sisters, Lulu, Marie, and Ruth
SULLIVAN. Mr. SULLIVAN was retired from Goodyear Tire and
Rubber Copmpany in St. Marys, where he worked for 35 years.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in St.
Marys. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Funeral
servcies will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Miller Funeral
Home, St. Marys, Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery,
St. Marys. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home.

76, formerly of 516 S. Ash St., St. Marys, died at 8:40 a.m.
Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Joint Township District Hospital
in St. Marys. She was born April 10, 1924, in Somerset, Ky.,
the daughter of George and Frances (TOMLINSON) ANDERSON. She
married Marcus DODSON, who preceded her in death. Survivors
include a son, James (Connie) DODSON of Glendale, Ariz.; a
daughter, Rebecca (Darrell) DILSAVER of St. Marys; a sister,
Jessie WESNER of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Carol PALMER of
St. Marys; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva ALLISON,
Tina DUNCAN and Georgia ANDERSON, and two brothers, Tom
ANDERSON and Forrest ANDERSON. Mrs. DODSON was retired from
the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St.Marys. She
attended the First Baptist Church in St. Marys and enjoyed
reading. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the
Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys with the Rev. Ron Spurgion
officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens,
near Moulton. Friends may call from noon until the time of
services Sunday at the funeral home.

Additional Information: Charles M. BRIGGS, of rural
Spencerville died at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, in the
SCCI Care Facility in Lima following a nine-week illness. He
was born April 22, 1923, in Salem Twp., Auglaize County, the
son of Leo R. and Anna E. (SEIBERT) BRIGGS. On Feb. 28, 1948,
he married Peggy J. LINDAMUTH who survives. Other Survivors
include a son, Michael R. BRIGGS, and a duaghter, Sue Ann
(Danny) GOETZ, both of Spencerville; two brothers, Richard
"Rich" BRIGGS and Raymond "Ray" (Joyce)
BRIGGS, and two sisters, Betty (Emil) ALLMEIER and Ann
BRIGGS, all of Spencerville; a grandson; four step-
grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. An infant
brother preceded him in death. Mr. BRIGGS retired with 40
years service as a metal finisher in the funeral
coach/ambulance division of Superior Coach/Sheller Globe
Corp. and later with the Superior Coaches Company in Lima. He
served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European
theatre and was a life member of the Bowersock Brothers
veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 of Spencerville. A 1942
graduate of Spencerville High School, Mr. BRIGGS was an
active leader in Boy Scout Troop 2 in Spencerville for many
years. He was also a member of the Northwest Ohio Field and
Stream Association in Spencerville and a member of the Lima
Senior Citizens. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday
in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with
the Rev. Dale Bissell officiating. Burial will follow in the
Walnut Hills Cemetery East of New Hampshire, where graveside
military rites will be conducted by the VFW and American
Legion of Spencerville. Friends may call from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Allen County Lung Association or the Northwest
Ohio Field and Stream Association.

SCHROER, 9585 Botkins-Angle Road, died today, March 6, 1992,
at 12:05 a.m. in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
He was 70. Born July 5, 1921 in New Knoxville, he was the son
of Christ and Lena (BUDDEMEYER) SCHROER. On Dec. 8, 1941, he
married Agnes JUNG, who died Nov. 10, 1987. Mr. SCHROER is
survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Judy
SCHROER of New Knoxville, a grandson, Allen SCHROER of New
Knoxville; and two sisters, Edna RODEHEFFER of St. Marys and
Mrs. James (Verneda) EWING of Buckland. Two brothers and two
sisters preceded him in death. Mr. SCHROER was a member of
First United Chruch of Christ in New Knoxville. He was a
retired farmer and had worked as a loom mechanic at St. Marys
Woolen Mill. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the
Gilberg Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hunt officiating.
Burial will be in the Pilger-Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.

Schultz Road, New Knoxville, died Monday, June 27, 1994, at
6:15 p.m. at St. Marys Living Center, following an extended
illness. He was born July 12, 1907, in New Knoxville, the son
of William and Anna (HOLTKAMP) SCHROER. On August 31, 1930,
he married Martha HOELSCHER, who died July 15, 1981. Mr.
SCHROER is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Carol)
BISHIR of Marion, Ind., and Connie OPPERMAN of Celina; one
son, Lee SCHROER of New Knoxville; 11 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters,
Hilda JAUERT and Olga KUCK, and one brother, Joseph SCHROER.
Mr. SCHROER was a retired farmer. He was a member of the
First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, where he was a
member of the church choir for many years. He was a graduate
of New Knoxville High School. Funeral services will be held

New Bremen, Nov. 27-Mrs. Friedericka WISSMAN nee STIENECKER
died at 3:15 p.m. Friday at her home at 314 North Franklin
street after having been ill for three years due to a
cerebral hemorrage. She was 86 years of age. Mrs. WISSMAN was
a native of Ladbergen, Germany, where she was born on May 18,
1868, the daughter of the late Henry and Friedericka KATTER
STIENECKER. On Oct 31, 1900 she was married to Conrad WISSMAN
who preceded her in death. Surviving her are two children,
Lester WISSMAN of New Knoxville and Mrs. Harold (Hedwig) HOTT
of New Bremen, three grandchildren, David and Cheryl Ann HOTT
and Marlene Dee WISSMAN, and one sister. Mrs. Gus. F.
SCHMIDT, St. Marys She was a member of the Zion Evangelical
and Reformed church and the Woman's Guild for 54 years.
Funeral services are arranged for Monday afternoon at 1:45 at
the Vornholt Funeral Home and 2 p.m. at Zion Church with the
Rev. L.G. Fritz officiating. Burial will take place in German
Protestant cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home
from noon Sunday until the hour of the services.

Information: Joel W. HOGE, 84, of 525 S. Mill St., New
Knoxville, died Monday, June 29, 1992 at 9:07 a.m. in the
emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital,
St. Marys. He was born June 2, 1908, in New Knoxville, the
son of Herman H. and Mary (OELRICH) HOGE. On August 31, 1935,
he married Sarah Luella RIDER, who survives. Survivors also
include two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Juli) FRONING of Sidney
and Mrs. Sidney (Marta) JOHN of Maumee; five grandchildren;
two great-granddaughters; one brother, Oliver HOGE of New
Knoxville; and five sisters, Rebecca TSCHANTZ of Bluffton,
Esther DALTON of Bremerton, Washington, Marcella HOELSCHER of
South Bend, Indiana, Ella KUCK of Sidney and Olga HARTWIG of
Oakland, California. He was preceded in death by one son,
Jonathon, who died in 1954, two brothers, Arthur HOGE and
Gustave HOGE and two sisters, Laura LAGEMAN and Bertha ROSER.
An architectural engineer, Mr. Hoge was the retired president
of Hoge Lumber. He was a 1924 graduate of New Knoxville High
School and a 1930 graduate of Ohio State University,
Columbus. He was a member of the First United Church of
Christ, New Knoxville. An avid golfer, he was a member of the
Senior Swingers Golf Club, Sidney. He was also a member of
the New Knoxville Civic Association, New Knoxville Historic
Association, Auglaize County Library Board and the Ohio State
University Alumni Association. Funeral services will be

New Knoxville-Elmeda E. WIERWILLE, 73, 310 E. Spring St.,
died following a seven year illness at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday,
Dec. 13, 1994, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital,
St.Marys. She was born Feb. 22, 1921, near New Knoxville to
August and Matilda (LAMMERS) FLEDDERJOHANN. On Aug. 22,
1943, she married Rev. Nathan WIERWILLE who survives. She is
also survived by two sons, Dr. Jonathan, San Antonio, Tex;
Timothy, Ruidoso, N.M.; a daughter, Rebecca MILLER, Franklin,
Mass; six grandhildren, Sarah, Ben, Chloe and Nathan
WIERWILLE; Ian and Graham MILLER; three brothers, Vernon, St.
Marys; Ralph and Myron, both of New Knoxville; and a sister,
Mrs. Paul (Helen) WELLMAN, New Knoxville. Mrs. WIERWILLE was
a homemaker. She was a graduate of New Knoxville High School
and Bowling Green State University and taught elementary
school for 25 years in Archbold and Cincinnati. She also
served as a voluneteer "old-fashioned" school
teacher at the Sauder Museum in Archbold until her illness.
She was a member of First United Church of Christ where she
sang in the choir for 48 years and taught Sunday School for
35 years. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church
with the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will be in
Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9
p.m. Sunday in the Heritage Chapel of the church. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to the church building fund or
the missionary work of the church. Arrangements were made by

Information: Funeral services for Carmont W. STEARNS, 76, of
Wapakoneta, will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at
the late residence at 203 East Pearl Street, Wapakoneta. Rev.
R. J. Loew will officiate and burial will be in Greenlawn
cemetery. Fraternal services will be conducted by the Elks at
8 o'clock Sunday evening at the residence. Mr. STEARNS died
Thursday in St. Rita's hospital, Lima, where he had been a
patient for the past week. He was born September 28, 1872, in
Mercer County, a son of the late Rufus and Rebecca FULKERSON
STEARNS. He resided in Wapakoneta since 1913. On July 13,
1898, he married Margaret GREEN of Celina, who died April 7,
1913. He was married to Louella WEIMERT on January 17, 1924.
Mr. and Mrs. STEARNS celebrated their silver wedding
anniversary on January 17 of this year. Surviving with his
widow are two sons D.E. STEARNS of Shreveport, La. and Ned C.
STEARNS of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; two brothers
Charles H. STEARNS of Whittier, Calif.; and R.E. STEARNS of
Los Angeles; and one sister, Mrs. Bess MITCHELL of Los
Angeles. For a number of years Mr. STEARNS served as the
stationary engineer for the St. Marys Paper Company, and the
Marion, Ind., Paper Company. He was a motorman on the old
Western Ohio Electric railroad for 19 years and in recent
years had been the stationary engineer at the Auglaize County
Court House.

Additional Information: Despondency because of ill health is
blamed for the suicide today of Wright SHAEFFER, age 35,
farmer living near St. John on R.R.1 Wapakoneta. Mr. SHAEFFER
was found at 7:30 a.m. today in the barn at his farm by
Charles MEYERS and son to whom he had rented the fields when
his health did not permit him to work. He had shot himself in
the heart with a 12 gauge shotgun. Sheriff William NIETER,
Deputy Arthur LAWLER and Dr. R.C. HUNTER, acting coroner,
investigated the death. They learned the deceased had been
very dispondent for several days. Mr. SHAEFFER was
prominently identified with church and fraternal
organizations. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical
and Reformed Church at Wapakoneta, the Auglaize County 32
Club, the Scottish Rite order at Dayton, the Wayne Lodge 569
F& A.M., St. John 100F, and St. Johns Grange. He is
survived by his widow, the former Edith KATTERHEINRICH of New
Knoxville, two sons, Lynn and Clyde, his mother, Mrs.
Catherine SHAEFFER, Wapakoneta and a sister, Mrs. Helen
GEORGE, Wapakoneta. His father, Merle SCHAEFFER is deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. N.P. KATTERHEINRICH of New Knoxville are the
parents-in-law of the deceased. Funeral services are arranged
for 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Weygandt Funeral
Home with the Rev. R. J. Loew officiating. Burial will take
place in Fairmont cemetery. Friends may call after 2 o'clock
Tuesday at the Weygandt Funeral Home.

Lester Jacob BRAUN, age 46, died of a heart attack at 1:15
o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home in Kettlersville. His
death occurred suddenly after a very brief illness. He was a
native of New Bremen, born here on May 19, 1902, a son of
Mrs. Louise KNASEL BRAUN and the late August BRAUN. On Juen
17, 1925, he married Glenna SOLLMAN who is left to mour his
death along with his mother, four children, Mrs. Kenneth
(Dorothy) QUELLHORST, Sidney; Robert, Joan and John, all at
home. Four brothers and a sister, who also survive are
Walter, Kettlersville; Harold and Homer, Sidney and Earl
BRAUN, New Bremen, and Mrs. D.H. (Helen) MILLER, Troy, O. He
and his brother, Walter were in business together as the
Braun Bros., Kettlersville where he was widely known and well
liked. He was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical and
Reformed church at Kettlersville. Funeral services are
arranged for Wednesday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock at the
residence and 2 o'clock at the Immanuel church with the Rev.
George Diehm officiating. Burial will be in the Lock Two
cemetery. Friends may call at the residence any time after
Tuesday noon until the time of the services.

native of Wapakoneta, died Friday at the Collingwood Park
rest home, Toledo, where she had been a patient for several
months. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. J. Hoyt (Florence)
MILLER of Toledo; a son, Harry DELONG of Los Angeles; a
sister, Mrs Frank DELONG of Wapakoneta; two brothers John
FREEMAN, Riverside, Calif., and Louis FREEMAN of Long Beach,
California. A son, Cpl. Fred E. DELONG was killed at Pearl
Harbor. There are four grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren. The late Mrs. John J. HAUSS of St. Marys was a
sister. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the
Bayliff funeral home, Cridersville.

Information: Although no official report has been made, it is
presumed that Louis NEIDERMIRE of 404 North Defiance street,
Wapakoneta, took his own life Friday. He was found dead of a
bullet wound last night. NEIERMIRE, who had a grocery store
in Wapakoneta, had been suffering with a heart ailment for
some time. Mr. NEIDERMIRE had been in business in Wapakoneta
eleven years. He was a World War I veteran and had served in
the submarine division of the U.S. Navy for six and a half
years. Surviving him are his widow, the former Matilda
Margaret KRAUSS, a son Albert, his father, George NEIDEMIRE,
two brothers, Roland and Robert, Wapakoneta and two sisters,
Mrs. Edward NAYLOR, Wapakoneta, and Mrs. Adrian KREIMES,
Dayton. The deceased was a member of the American legion,
D.A.V. and Eagles lodge, Wapakoneta. Funeral services were
held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at St. Paul's Evangelical
and Reformed church, Wapakoneta, without eh Rev. R.J. Loew
officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends

and Brookhart Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, for Sgt. Burl David
BLACKBURN, who was killed January 11, 1945, at Luxemborg, in
the Battle of the Bulge. He enlisted in the Army on March 9,
1943, going overseas on April 1, 1944. Born September 7,
1918, four miles northwest of Wapakoneta, he was the son of
William and Luella LINK BLACKBURN, who survive. On June 18,
1939, he married Emma Jane SCHAMP who also survives with the
grandmother, Mrs. Anna AMBOS of Wapakoneta; two brothers,
Gale, of near St. Marys; and Guy of Wapakoneta; and one
sister, Mrs. Frederick KOCH of Cridersville. He had been
employed at the Monarch, Sidney, previous to his enlistment
Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The V.F.W. will have
the military rites.

Additional Information: The remains of Pvt. Lester F. JOYCE,
who made the supreme sacrifice on August 18, 1944, will
arrive in St. Marys Wednesday evening on the 10:58 Nickel
Plate train for reburial services. Pvt JOYCE, the son of Mrs.
Mary R. JOYCE of South Beech street and the late Harry JOYCE,
entered military service on December 9, 1942, and received
training at Camp Van Dorn, Miss; Camp Maxey and Camp Howze,
Texas. Almost a year later he was sent overseas. He lost his
life in France. He was born in St. Marys on December 8, 1921.
Surviving with the mother are these brothers, and sisters:
Mrs. Wilbur (Winona) LININGER, Mrs. W.V. (Mildred)
SCHOONMAKER, Mrs. Harold (Virginia) KETTLER, of St. Marys;
Robert, at home, and Corp. Harry JOYCE of Ft. Lewis,
Washington. A brother, John was fatally injured in June 1948.
He was a member of Battery A, 202nd Field Artillery
Battalion. Before entering military service he was employed
in Department 274B at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock
at the Sittler Memorial Home with Rev. John L. Schmidt
officiating. American Legion Post 323 will have the military
services. Burial will be in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home afternoon on Thursday and Friday
until the services.

New Bremen, April 6.-Mrs. Margaret SCHROEDER WISSMAN, 88,
died yesterday at 2:30 p.m., at the home of her grandson,
Allen KUENNING, 17 North Franklin Street, where she has been
residing for the past nine months. Mrs. WISSMAN had been
ailing for the past three years and seriously ill for two
months. She was born east of New Bremen of January 15, 1861.
Her husband, William WISSMAN died in 1931. After his death
she resided alone for a while and later lived with her
daughter and grandchildren. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs.
Julius (Emma) DAMMEYER of New Bremen; 8 grandchildren; 11
greatgrandchildren and one great great grandchild. A son and
two daughters are deceased. She was a member of the St.
Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church. Funeral services will
be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Gilberg
and Hegemier Funeral Home with the Rev. E.H. Bassler
officiating. Burial will be in the German Protestant

Mrs. Hilda Dorothy PAPE, 55, succumbed early this morning at
2 o'clock at her home in 318 North Main Street. Mrs. PAPE,
who had been ill for the past four months, died of
complications. Funeral services are arranged for Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Vornholt Funeral Home with
the Rev. E.H. Bassler officiating. Burial will be in the
German Protestant cemetery. The deceased was born west of New
Bremen of March 30, 1894, a daughter of Fred DICKE and the
late Mrs. Martha WUEBBENHORST DICKE. On August 22, 1917, she
was married to Carl PAPE. Survivors are her husband; her

four sons, Carl Jr., David, James, at home, and Don of

Cincinnati, who was at the bedside and cared for her sister

Botkins Angle Road, New Knoxville, died suddenly at 9:04 a.m.
Thursday, June 3, 1999, in the emergency department of Joint
Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born
Feb. 12, 1930, in Putnam County to Bernard C. and Ella (DREW)
SCHULLER. On Dec. 20, 1950, he married Lois MECKSTROTH, who
survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Denise
(David) WILSON of New Knoxville; his father-in-law, Ferdinand
MECKSTROTH of New Knoxville; four sisters, Delores GILLIAND
of St. Marys, Irene THATCHER of Mendon, Sharon SEIBERT of
Spencerville and Deanna CARR of Bitely, Mich.; and two
brothers, Merle SCHULLER of St. Marys and Anthony SCHULLER of
Crowell, Ind. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael A.
SCHULLER, who died May 29, 1962; one sister, Bernadine
JACOBS; and two brothers, Wayne and Alvin. Mr. Schuller was
the retired owner of Schuller Construction Co. He also served
as sextant of Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville. He was a
veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of New
Knoxville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of
Eagle Lodge Aerie 767, St. Marys, a life member of American
Legion Post 444; New Knoxville, and a member of the Moulton
Gun Club. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday
at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys with the Rev. Mitch
Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe
Cemetery in New Knoxville. The family will receive friends

Paul nuclear sub. He attended Pierce College in Los Angeles,
and California State University, Northridge, Calif. A
memorial service is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul
United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, the Rev. John E. Manzo

East Harrison Street, Wapakoneta, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday,
Nov. 19, 2000 at Auglaize Acres. She was born March 25, 1908,
in Uniopolis, the daughter of George S. and Zella (SOUTH)
DICKSON. On Aug. 29, 1925, she married George S. WALLS, who
died Oct. 7, 1981. Survivors include two sons, George J.
(Marcia) WALLS of Wapakoneta and LeRoy (Beverly) WALLS of
Orient; five daughters, Mara (Wilbur) HARDEMAN of Lima, Donna
(Charles) MCCARTNEY of North Fort Myers. Fla., Doris
MCCLINTOCK of Waynesfield, Janet STEINKE of Columbus and
Kathryn (Larry) WHITAKER of Grove City; a sister, Lucille
BOWERSOCK DUFFY of Wapakoneta; 30 grandchildren; 46 great
grandchildren and 10 greatgreatgrandchildren. She was
preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn WEHNER; an infant
son, Billie WALLS; a sister, Mildred NEUMAN; and two
grandsons, Randy WEHNER and Jeff SALMONS. A homemaker, Mr.
WALLS had attended St. Johns United Methodist Church. She was
a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed traveling.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the
Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta with the Rev.
Kieran P. Darcy officiating. Burial will follow in the
Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may
be directed to the Special Needs Unit at Auglaize Acres.

James O. HOLTZAPPLE, 69, of Springfield, Mich., formerly of
Wapakoneta, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at Docsa Home Inc. in
Springfield, Mich. He was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Wapakoneta,
the son of Otis Henry and Althea (CANNON) HOLTZAPPLE. He
attended the Wapakoneta public schools and lived in
Wapakoneta for many years. Survivors include a sister, Pat
LUMA of Huron; a special friend, Sally WHITE of Calhoun, Ga.;
and several nieces and nephews. Mr. HOLTZAPPLE served in the
U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was with the
Squadron Airdales on an aircraft carrier in which he worked
on airplanes. He moved from Ohio to Battle Creek, Mich, in
1974 and was a groundskeeper employed by the Veterans
Administration Medical Center in Battle Creek, where he
worked for many years. He was an active volunteer at the
medical center and also worked in the recreation department
at the medical center. He was a member of AARP and enjoyed
fishing, motorcycle riding and working outdoors. Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Custer
National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Mich. Burial will follow
in the cemetery.

Obituary / Additional Information: Marjorie M. DAUM, 92,
a resident of the St. Marys Living Center, and formerly of
801 Linden Ave., St. Marys, died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov.
18, 2000, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St.
Marys. She was born Sept. 30, 1908, in Noble Township,
Auglaize County, the daughter of James and Bessie (DEVORE)
MONTAGUE. On June 25, 1929, she married Orville (Bill) REMPE,
who died Feb. 16, 1956. On May 8, 1971, she married Oswald
DAUM, who died April 8, 1973. Survivors include a daughter,
Judith STOLL of Grand Rapids, Mich., and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly BARRICK; a
sister, Mable ADAMS; and a brother, Richard MONTAGUE. Mrs.
DAUM had been employed for many years at the former
Montgomery Ward Company in St. Marys. She was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys. Funeral services will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys
with the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial will follow
at Elm Grove Cemetery, in St. Marys. Friends may call from
noon until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Douglas Lee SCHULTZ, 48, Glynwood Road, Wapakoneta, died at
1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at University Hospital in
Cincinnati. He was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Lima, the son of
Kermit H. and Onda J. (REDDEN) SCHULTZ. Both survive in
Wapakoneta. Other survivors include a maternal grandmother,
Opal BALLARD of St. Marys, and several aunts, uncles and
cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant brother,
Steven K. SCHULTZ. SHULTZ had operated the Snack Bar in the
Safety Building in Dayton for 30 years. He was a member of
the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. He was a
1970 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and a 1971 graduate
of the Ohio Rehabilitation for the Blind in Cleveland. He was
a member of the Ohio Blind Vendors Association and the
Auglaize County Horsemen Association. He was also an avid
sports enthusiast. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in
Wapakoneta with the Rev. G. Richard Bell officiating. Burial
will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta. Friends
may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Obituary / Additional Information: Lowell R. GRAESSLE,
93, of Otterbein-Cridersville, formerly of Wapakoneta, died
at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Shawnee Manor. He
was born March 6, 1907, in Auglaize County to Philip and
Lorena (ZIMMERMAN) GRAESSLE. On July 23, 1945, he married
Helen R. REED, who died March 26, 1992. Survivors include one
brother, Kermit D. (Ruth) GRAESSLE of Lima; several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and
great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by five
brothers, Howard, Carl, Robert, Andrew and Frederick
GRAESSLE; three sisters, Mae GRAESSLE, Lela PLACE and Edna
RAMGA. Mr. GRAESSLE worked and retired from the Ohio State
Highway Department, Lima District, as a civil engineer. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Wapakoneta. He had attended Spencerville High School, Ferris
Institute in Big Rapids, Mich., Michigan College of Mining
and Technology, Ohio Northern University, and The the Ohio
State University. He was a registered professional civil
engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served
during World War II in Hawaii and the Aleutian Islands. He
was also a member of the Bowersock Bros. V.F.W. Post 6772 in
Spencerville, the Ohio Historical Society, the National
Society of Engineers and the American Red Cross. Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United
Methodist Church in Wapakoneta with the Rev. G. Richard BELL
officiating. Burial followed in the Spencerville Cemetery,
with military graveside services conducted by the
Spencerville V.F.W. Memorial contributions may be made to
Ohio Northern University, College of Engineering or the
American Red Cross.

Information: Eric "Chip" MICHEAL, 20, 1113 Nagel
St., St. Marys, died at 3:25 p.m. Sunday , Sept. 10, 2000, in
a motor vehicle accident which occurred at the intersection
of Ohio 66 and Deep Cut Road near Kossuth. He was born June
20, 1980, in Bowling Green, Ky., to Joseph A. and Frances
Darlene (CRABTREE) MICHEAL. His father survives with his
step-mom Cheryl MICHEAL in St. Marys, and his mother survives
in Gulfport, Miss. Additional survivors include one brother,
Matthew EVANS of St. Marys; one sister, Danielle MICHEAL of
St. Marys; one grandmother, Rita MICHEAL of St. Marys; and
grandparents, Lance A. and Linda M. EVANS of New Knoxville.
His sister, Shannon Marie MICHEAL, died in the accident. Mr.
MICHEAL was employed at Plastipak in Jackson Center and at
the Speedway Service Station in New Bremen. He was a member
of The Way International in New Knoxville. Private graveside
services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in St.
Marys with the Rev. Michael Reeves officiating. The family
will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Long &
Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys Chapel. Memorial contributions

Additional Information: Vernon "Bud" SOMMER, 81, 69
S. Hanover St., Minster, died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday,
Sept.6, 2000, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster. He
was born July 27, 1919, in Minster to Frederick and Pauline
(FORTMAN) SOMMER. On Sept. 1, 1943, he married Marjorie
HOWELL, who survives. Additional survivors include three
sons, Michael (Pamela) SOMMER and Gregory (Kathy) SOMMER,
both of Minster, and Douglas SOMMER of St. Marys; one
daughter-in-law, Kendra SOMMER of Minster; 11 grandchildren;
5 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha MASSING of
Minster. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven SOMMER;
four brothers; and four sisters. Mr. SOMMER was the former
owner and operator for 41 years of Bud's Pizza in Minster. He
was a member of St. Augustine Church in Minster, life member
of Minster K of C, F.O.E. 1391 in Minster, Knights of St.
John in Fort Loramie, and was a former member and stockholder
of Arrowhead Park Golf Club in Minster. He was active as a
Democratic Central Committee member for 25 years. He was also
active as a member of the Board of Directors Commnity Lanes,
Walkup Country Club in Ft. Loramie, Cataract Fire Co. in
Minster and the Minster Athletic Boosters. Funeral services
will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church in
Minster with the Rev. William Hoyng officiating. Burial will
follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive family
and friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at
Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster. Memorial contributions may
be made to the Mercer/Darke County Hospice and Minster Area

Obituary / Additional Information: Velma P. KOEPKE, 92,
died Tuesday, August 29, 2000, in Massillion. She was born
March 17, 1908, in New Knoxville to Ben and Wilhelmina
(FLEDDERJOHN) WIERWILLE. In 1932, she married Dr. Karl
KOEPKE, who was a clergyman in the United Church of Christ.
Her husband is deceased. Survivors include one daughter,
Kathy (John) NICHOLS; two brothers, Rev. Nathan WIERWILLE and
Rev. Linus WIERWILLE. She was preceded in death by one
sister, Luella EVERSMAN. Mrs. KOEPKE graduated from
Heidelberg College, where she was a member of the Glee Club
and Hisperian Society. She was active in the Women's Guild
and Synod groups. She was a pianist who taught young students
and volunteered in church. She enjoyed reading and making
antique presentations. Funeral services were held September 2
in Canton with the Rev. Nathan WIERWILLE and Rev. Linus
WIERWILLE officiating. Burial was held at the North Lawn
Cemetery mausoleum.

Additional Information: James R. (Sarge) GOODWIN, 72, of
Elwood, Ind., died Tuesday, Sept 5, 2000, at St. Vincent
Mercy Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born
Jan. 4, 1928, in St. Marys, to Jesse and Cora (ROBY) GOODWIN.
On April 26, 1952, he married Audrey SHARP, she survives in
Elwood, Ind. Additional survivors include six daughters,
Sandra (George) BREWER, Kelly (Jeffrey) MUNDY, and
Kathleen,(last name unknown) all of Elwood ,Ind., Jill
(Jesse) DENTON of Greenwood Ind., Gail (Donald) MCCULLOUGH of
Virginia Beach, Va., and Denise (Harold) RODEHEAVER of
Burbank, Ohio; one son-in-law, Anthony ORTIZ of Japan; 11
grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis COMBS of North Carolina;
and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
three sisters, and one granddaughter. Mr. GOODWIN retired on
Feb 29, 1972, as a SSG-E6 from the U.S. Army with 25 years of
service. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and
Vietnam. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9239 of St.
Marys. In 1999, he retired from State Plating after working
as a security guard for many years. There will be no
visitation, as cremation was chosen as the option.

HARLAMERT, 88, of 5820 Ohio 274, New Bremen, died at 12:42
p.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999 in Joint Township District
Memorial Hospital at St. Marys. She was born Nov. 5, 1910, at
Van Buren Township, Shelby County to Adolph and Emilie EGBERT
GEIB. On June 8, 1937 she married Alton HARLAMERT. He died
Oct. 3, 1988. Survivors include one daughter, Emily and Gary
WIEDEMAN of New Bremen; one son, Dean HARLAMERT of Eufaula,
Ala; six grandchildren, Neil and Karla WIEDEMAN of New
Bremen, Russ and Sheryl WIEDEMAN of Ft. Jennings, Ohio, Dana
WIEDEMAN of Columbus, Shelly and John ZELLER of New Bremen,
and Lesley HARLAMERT and Ryan HARLAMERT, both of Alabama;
three great-grandchidren. One brother, Webster GEIB is
deceased. Mrs. HARLAMERT was a member of St. Peter's United
Church of Church at New Bremen and was an active member of
various church organizations. She was a member of the New
Bremen Senior Citizens and had taught elementary education
for over 37 years with almost all of those years in the New
Bremen School system. She was also a member of the Auglaize
County Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma
Sorority. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thurday in St.
Peter's Church at New Bremen with the Rev. Dr. Lawrence
Holmer officiating. Calling hours will be on Wednesday at
Gilberg Funeral Home at New Bremen from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to
9 p.m. with burial taking place in the German Portestant
Cemetery, New Bremen. Preferred memorials are to St. Peter's
Church Memorial Fund or to the New Bremen Public Library.
