Delbert Schwierking was notified Friday of the death of his
brother, Ralph Schwierking, 86 years old, of Coquille,
Oregon. He was the son of the late Mr and Mrs. John
Schwierking. He is survived by his wife, Rita, a son, Max and
a daughter, Marcia. Two grandchildren, five brothers,
Bernard, Muncie, Ind., Clifford, Toledo, Ohio, Frank,
Rochester, New York, Alfred, St. Paris, Ohio, Delbert, New
Bremen and a sister, Mrs. David FRITZ, Union City, Indiana
also survive. Two brothers Herman and Ed are deceased. Burial
took place this morning, March 12th at Coquille, Oregon.

Information: Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Wednesday in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, for Elmer
William Fast, Sr. of St. Petersburg, Florida. Yoder-Long and
Folk Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Mr.
Richard P.Coad will officiate. Mr. Fast, 84, lived at 1331
49th S. North in St. Petersburg. He died at 7:00 a.m. Monday.
Born in Mercer County on December 19, 1888 he was the son of
William and Mary Fowler Fast. His wife, Ida, survives with
two daughters, Mrs. Fred COOK, Corpus Christi, Texas and Mrs.
George GUY, Cardington, Ohio and three sons, Elmer W. Jr.,
Ernest R. and Ross L. all of St. Petersburg. There are 23
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-
grandchildren also surviving.

Additional Information: Sylvanus W. Wagner died at 4:30
o'clock Sunday morning at Gibbons hospital, Celina, his death
occurring the day before his 44th birthday anniversary. He
had been ill for two weeks, suffering with pneumonia followed
by meningitis. Mr. Wagner was the son of the late George and
Matilda Settlage Wagner and was born March 1, 1899, on the
Wagner farm, New Bremen road. In 1925 he married Agnes
Opperman, who survives along with their two daughters,
Jocelyn and Mary Lou. Besides his wife and children he leaves
a sister, Mrs. J. F. EVANS, San Diego, Calif., and three
brothers, Harry, of Sacramento, Calif., Richard and Alvin
Wagner of New Bremen. He was a member of the Zion Reformed
Church at New Bremen and of the Eagles lodge at Wapakoneta.
Mr. Wagner had been employed until recently at Hannifin's.
Funeral services for Mr. Wagner have not been arranged
pending word from the brother and sister in California. His
body is at the Yoder Funeral Home where friends may call from
7 to 9 o'clock Tuesday evening. The services will be held at
the funeral home, date to be announced later, and burial will
be made in Willow Grove cemetery, near New Bremen.

Harvey Gillette, age 62, of 1163 West North Street, Lima,
formerly of St. Marys, died Wednesday noon at St. Rita's
hospital, Lima, of a heart ailment. He was employed here by
the Boos machine Company for a number of years, then went to
Lima with the Buckeye Machine Company where he had been
employed for 18 years. He had been with the sales department
until recently when he went into the purchsing department.
Mr. Gillette is survived by his wife, Margaret, two
daughters, Esther, an instructor in South High school, Lima,
Mrs. Helen LHAMON, Ft. Wayne, Ind., William of Pittsburgh and
Walter of Lima, a sister and a granddaughter. Funeral
services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the
Siferd and Son Funeral home, Lima with Rev. E.A.J. St Louis
of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in
Memorial Park cemetery.

George Fletcher Shoup, age 61, living three miles north of
New Knoxville, died at 10:15 o'clock Monday evening at his
home. He had been ill only for a day, suffering a cerebral
hemorrhage less than twenty-fours before his death occurred.
Mr Shoup was born in Clay township on April 11, 1881, a son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Shoup. In September 1909, he
married Antoinette Klopfenstein, who is left to mourn his
death. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children,
Mrs. Lucille BROCKRIEDE, Sidney, the Rev. F.G. Shoup,
Brighton, Mich., Eldred Shoup, at home, and Mrs. Ruth
WILKINS, St. Marys. There are two grandchildren. Sisters and
brothers surviving are Mrs. Addie LUNTZ, Wapakoneta, Mrs Emma
WEIKERT, Dayton, Mrs. Ethel STUKEY, Lima, and Wesley Shoup,
Hot Springs, O. There are many friends. He was a member of
Trinity Lutheran church at Moulton for 14 years. Funeral
servces will be held at 2 o'clock CWT Thursday afternoon at
the Trinity church with the Rev. G.E. Ferne in charge. Burial
will be in Greenlawn cemetery. Friends may call any time
Wednesday.

Michael Alan Chapman, age 7, 306 Washington Street,
Wapakoneta, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Children's hospital,
Cincinnati, where he had undergone open heart surgery on Jan.
7. He was born April 29, 1957, in Lima, son of John and Mary
Lou Morey Chapman Jr. He is survived by his parents, a
brother Terry Lynn, 10, and sister Teresa Ann, age 5. and
maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lloyd Morey Sr., 501 East Auglaize
street, Wapakoneta, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Robert
NEWCOMBER, R.R.6, Wapakoneta, paternal grandfather, John E.
Chapman, Sr., Lima, paternal great grandmother, Mrs. Wilford
REED, R.R.6, Wapakoneta. Funeral services will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday at the Methodist church with the Rev. letcher
Shoup officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran church for Albert W.
Schultz, age 74, McKinley road, who died yesterday afternoon
at Joint Township Memorial hospital. The Rev. Roger G.
Phillips of Trinity Lutheran Church Moulton will officiate.
Burial will take place here in Elmgrove cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the Yoder and Long Funeral Home
Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be
taken to the church Saturday to lie there in state from 12
noon until the hour of the services. Mr. Schultz was born in
St. Marys township on Jan. 18, 1890, the son of John and
Mary Hormel Schultz. He is survived by his wife, the former
Hilda Elshoff, with whom he would have observed their 48th
wedding anniversay March 1, four children, Almond, of Celina,
John W., of St. Marys R.R.2, Mrs Dick JOHNS, St. Marys and
Mrs. Robert Russel, Piqua, eight grandchildren, and two
brothers, Emil, R.R.1, St. Marys, and Theodore, Bluffton. A
sister, Mrs. Nettie SCHMIDE and an infant sister, preceded
him in death. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the
Noble township farm bureau.

Obituary / Additional Information: Funeral rites for
Ferdinand Meckstroth, 85, of R.R. 1, New Knoxville, will take
place Saturday at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Christ in
New Knoxville. The Rev. Kenneth H. Worthman will officiate
with burial to follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may
call at the Gilberg Funeral Home in New Bremen after Friday
noon until 11 a.m. Saturday at which time the body will be
taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of the
services. Mr. Meckstroth, a retired farmer, was born May 2,
1879 to Adolph and Anna Prueter Meckstroth. On December 11,
1902, he married Wilhelmina Harlamert. She preceded him in
death on July 5, 1963. On son, Edwin, who died January 3,
1963, and a son, Ray, who died in infancy in 1910, also
preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Leonard, two
brothers, Theodore, St. Marys and Ed of Mount Vernon, two
sisters, Miss Melinda Meckstroth of St. Marys and Mrs. Amelia
ELSHOFF of R.R.1, New Knoxville.

Additional Information: Celina-Joseph S. Williams, died at 1
p.m. Thursday, March 16, 1995, at Palm Harbor Manor Care
Center, Palm Harbor, Fla. He had been ill for a year. He was
born Jan. 30, 1898, in St. Marys to Dr. Isaac E. and Louisa
(McBroom) Williams. He was married to Lucille Tyner
Whitehall, who died in 1987. He later married Sharon Saaf,
who survives at the care center. He is also survived by three
stepsons, Richard Saaf, Edgerton; Randall Saaf, Columbia
City, Ind.; Brady Saaf, Fr. Wayne, Ind,; two stepdaughters,
Mrs. Michael (Rachelle) BYSTROM, Minneapolis, Minn.; Melina
Saaf, Ft. Wayne; and 11 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a stepdaughter, Ann WHITEHILL, and a sister, Ester
V. Williams. Mr. Williams was an electrical engineer who
worked for Mallory Manufacturing and General Electric in
Indianapolis and retired in 1962. He was a 1916 graduate of
St. Marys High School, attended Oberlin College, graduated
from Case-Western Reserve University in 1921 and was a member
of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a member of Keeneland
Club, Lexington, Ky., Traders Point Hunt and Lambs Club, both
in Indianapolis, Ind.; and a former member of Mercer County
Elks. Services will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Long &
Folk Funeral Home with the Rev. John J. Nunnally officiating.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in
Indianapolis. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at
the funeral home.

Mrs. Caroline Elizabeth Geiger, age 84, widow of John F.
Geiger, died at 5 a.m. today at the family residence at 133
North Wayne street after a long illness. Bronchial pneumonia
which developed last week was the immediate cause of death.
It was while devotedly caring for her husband, an invalid due
to creeping paralysis, that Mrs. Geiger suffered a cerebral
hemmorrhage in 1933, making her an invalid.... Mrs. Geiger
was born Feb. 8, 1873, southeast of St. Marys, the daughter
of the late William and Mary Katterheinrich Settlage. On Dec.
19, 1893, she was married to John F. Geiger who preceded her
in death in 1940. Left to mourn her death are six daughters,
Mrs. B.H. (Alma) LUTTERBEIN, Edgerton, O, Mrs. T.C. (Clara)
DEWEESE, Lima, the Misses Marguerite M., Edith W., Gertrude
F., and Kathryn C. all at home; a sister, Mrs. Lewis
(Pauline) WEHMEYER, R.R.1, New Bremen, and two brothers,
William J. Settlage, New Knoxville and the Rev. Henry G.
Settlage, Waukesha, Wis., seven grandchildren and 14
greatgrandchildren; her nurse, Miss Nellie HOWE, who had
aided her daughter, Miss Edith and other family members in
caring for her the last ten years and a great many relatives
and friends. Miss Edith had discontinued teaching at
Springfield, O., in 1948 to care for her mother. Mrs. Geiger
was baptised and confirmed in the First Evangelical and
Reformed church at New Knoxville. After her marriage she
became a member of Zion Lutheran church in this city and was
active as long as her health permitted in attendance at the
worship services and in the Ladies Aid and Missionary and
Dorcas societies. She was widely known to older residents of
the community through her years of association with Mr.
Geiger in the operatioon of the Geiger Bakery. Funeral
services are arranged for 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran
church with the Rev. A.J. Prang officiating. Burial wil take
place in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may call at the late
residence after noon Wednesday until 12 o'clock Friday when
the body will be removed to the church to lie there in state
until the hour of the services.

/ Additional Information: Edward W. Price, age 79, retired
city mail carrier, died suddenly at 4 o'clock Wednesday
afternoon at the family residence at 427 West Jackson street,
death being due to a lung hemorrhage. Mr. Price had been in
failing health for some time but seemed no worse than usual
until shortly before his death. He was born in Pleasant Hill,
O., on April 7, 1863, a son of the late Isaac and Jane Price.
On December 2, 1884, he married Julia Weber, who preceded him
in death in 1935. On October 7, 1936, he married Margaret
Gayer who is left to mourn his death together with three
children by his first marriage. They are Mrs. V.C. SNIDER of
Monroe, Mich., Mrs. Rufus GORHAM of Bluffton and Mrs. Lee
STOCKWELL of Sidney. On daughter, Mrs. Rolland Snider is
deceased. Besides his wife and children he is survived by 15
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Two brothers and
a sister are Charles of Stockton, Calif., and John Price of
San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Lambert KOPPOCK of Portland, Ore.
There are a great many friends in St. Marys and in the
neighborhood of Covington and Pleasant Hill where he formerly
lived. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at
Covington. For many years he was active here in the Odd
Fellows lodge, now disbanded. Funeral services will be held
at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Price residence.
Burial will take place in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may call
Thursday and Friday evenings between 7 and 9 o'clock at the
residence.

Additional Information: Fred Settlage, age 85, formerly of
Auglaize County, died Sunday at a nursing home in Kirksville,
Mo., according to word received by Adrian Settlage, R.R.1,
New Knoxville, from Mr. Settlage's son, John in Kirksville.
Mr. Settlage was the son of the late Henry and Louisa Kattman
Settlage. He formerly lived in Detroit and in Orlando, Fla.
He is survived by one son, John Of Kirksville and three
grandchildren, John, Laura and William. His wife, the former
Rheba Thom, died some months ago. Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Siferd Funeral Home,
Wapakoneta with burial fo follow in Greenlawn cemetery.

Settlage have received word of the death of Mrs. Rheba
Settlage of 3000 Bumby, Orlando, Fla., yesterday at a
hospital in Orlando. She was the wife of Fred Settlage,
formerly of this area and now a patient in a nursing home in
Kirksville, Mo. Mrs. Settlage was a native of Canada. She was
a registered nurse and had continued semiactive in her
profession. Surviving her are her husband, a son, John of
Kirksville, three grandchildren and a brother, Fred Thom, of
Canada. Mrs. Settlage was 72 years old. She had visited here
on a number of occasions. She will be brought to Wapakoneta
for funeral services. Siferd Funeral Home will be in charge
of arrangements which have not been determined.

Additional Information: Edgerton-Alma Mary Katherine
Lutterbein, 91, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1986 at
Parkview Nursing Home, Edgerton, where she had been a
resident for the last three years. She was born Dec. 29, 1894
to John F. and Caroline E. (Settlage) Geiger in St. Marys. On
Nov. 3, 1919 she married Benjamin Lutterbein, who preceded
her in death. Mrs. Lutterbein graduated from St. Marys High
school in 1912 and attended Miami University, Oxford. For
several years she taught Huenke School on the New Bremen Road
and then she taught Latin and algebra in New Bremen High
School. She was a resident of St. Marys and a member of Zion
Lutheran Church until her marriage. Since then she has lived
in Fort Recovery, Hicksville, and Edgerton. During World War
II she taught English in Edgerton. She is survived by four
children, Mrs. Paul (Marion) ROHRBAUGH of Cleveland, John W.
and Richard B. Lutterbein of Edgerton, and Edward Lutterbein
of Rochester, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-
grandchildren, and one sister, Marguerite Geiger of St.
Marys. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. T.C.
(Clara) DEWEESE, Edith, Gertrude and Kathryn Geiger. Services
will be at Krill's Funeral Home in Edgerton on Thursday at
1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Edgerton Cemetery. Visitation
will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Henry G. Settlage, age 79, of R.R.4, Waukesha,
Wisconsin, native of the New Knoxville community, died
Tuesday after an extended illness, his brother, William
Settlage, of New Knoxville, was notified. The Rev. Mr.
Settlage was a retired minister of the Evangelical and
Reformed church. He had served all but a few years of his
ministry as pastor of churches in Milwaukee and Waukesha. For
some years he had been a trustee of the Home for the Aged at
Upper Sandusky, owned and operated by the Evangelical and
Reformed church. He was born in Washington township on August
25th, 1879, the son of William and Mary Katterheinrich
Settlage. After attending St. Marys high school he went to
Mission House College and Seminary at Sheboygan, Wisconsin,
from which he graduated. He was a son of the First
Evangelical and Reformed church at New Knoxville. Following
his ordination he married Mary Grether who is left to mourn
his death along with three sons and a daughter, Frank, at
home, Dr. Henry, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Dr. Calvin, Ardmore,
Pa.; and Mrs. Floyd PERCY, of Pittsburg, Kansas; the brother,
William Settlage of New Knoxville; one sister, Mrs. Lewis
WEHMEYER, New Bremen R.R. A son, Dr. Paul Settlage, lost his
life by drowning a year ago last spring. Six sisters and two
brothers are deceased. There are many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for the Rev. Mr. Settlage will be held
Friday afternoon in Waukesha.

Edward J. Sebenoler, 85, Long Beach, Calif, native of
Cleveland and former St. Marian, sided Sunday morning at her
home in Long Beach. In 1895 she married Edward Sebenoler who
survives. Mr. and Mrs. Sebenoler operated a grocery store in
Kirbyville until 1919 when they moved to St. Marys where Mr.
Sebenoler had a pool room for some years. In 1945 they moved
to Marion, O., and in 1948 they went to California where they
have lived since. Surviving with her husband whom she married
63 years ago, are two daughters, Mrs. R.G. DERR, La Maritta,
Calif., and Mrs. Helen MUSTARD, Convoy, O., a twin sister
along with a number of nieces and nephews in the Upper
Sandusky area., six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Long Beach, Calif., Tuesday
morning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the
Worthington Methodist church for Mrs. Jane Brokaw Tangeman,
age 46, wife of Carl Tangeman, Worthington, who was killed in
an automobile accident Saturday as she and her daughter,
Susan were enroute with friends to Wellesley College,
Wellesley, Mass. Mrs. Tangeman is a former Wapakoneta
resident and taught in Blume high school at Wapakoneta
previous to her marriage. Burial will take place in Walnut
Grove Cemetery, Worthington. Mrs. Tangeman is survived in
addition to her husband and daughter, Susan, by a son,
Philip, 20, daughter, Sally, 14, her father, Harvey Brokaw,
Wapakoneta and sister, Mrs. Alfred (Louise) KATTMAN,
Wapakoneta. She was president of the Worthington board of
education for the second year and had been a member of the
board five years. Mrs. Tangeman and her 18 year old daughter,
Susan left Saturday morning for Wellesley with Mrs. Marcia
MCCLINTOCK and her two daughters Marcia, 17 and Carolyn, 15
of Columbus. Near Milan, O according to the state highway
patrol, Mrs. McClintock stopped the car on 113 and then made
a left hand turn on four lane 250 in the path of a truck.
Mrs. Tangeman was hurled from the car by the impact. Mrs.
McClintock was seriously hurt. The girls escaped injury.

at Kansas City, Mo., of complications following influenza.
The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Elshoff of New
Knoxville and leaves in addition to the parents the following
sisters and brothers: Mrs. Albert SCHULTZ, residing on the
McKinley road; Matilda Elshoff, the parental home, Benj. and
Lewis Elshoff, New Knoxville; Gustave Elshoff, Sheboygan,
Wis. January 4, the deceased, in company with Rufus
ESCHMEYER, went to Kansas City and entered an automobile
school. Mr. Eschmeyer died of Influenza and scarlet fever
during the month of January. Upon receipt of the news of his
son's illness Wm. Elshoff went to Kansas City and remained
there until the death. The body will be brought to the
parental home in New Knoxville for interment.

Additional Information: Louis C. Hafner, age 74, Minster,
died Saturday morning at 8 o'clock at the home of his son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hafner, Jr. in Houston,
Texas. Mr. Hafner had left Minster seven weeks ago due to his
illness. He married Cecilia Rusch in 1910 and she preceded
him in death March 14, 1956. Surviving with the son are two
daughters, Janet and Patricia Hafner. He was a member of St.
Augustine church in Minster, a charter member of the St.
Augustine choir, a charter member of the Cataract Fire
Company, a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of
the Knights of Columbus. A Requiem High Mass will be
conducted at nine o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Augustine

23. William E. Sunderman, widely known and popular local
citizen, died at 10:35 o'clock this morning at the family
residence after a six months illness of carcinoma. Mr.
Sunderman had under gone an operation six months ago in an
effort to regain his health but without avail. He was 60
years, 11 months and four days of age. He had lived all of
his life in New Knoxville, having been born here on March 17,
1882, a son of the late Ernst and Mary Meckstroth Sunderman.
On March 17, 1904, he married Caroline Hinze who is left to
mourn his death together with their three children. Mrs. Art
(Lenore) WIERWILLE, at home, Mrs. Elmer (Evangeline) HOWE,
St. Marys, and Miss Grace Sunderman, at home. There is one
granddaughter, Nancy Jane Wierwille. Two sisters, are Mrs.
G.H. (Elizabeth) KATTMAN, and Mrs. J.O. (Emma) EVANS, both of
New Knoxville. In addition to family members he leaves a
large circle of friends. "W.E." as he was generally
known was a former village councilman. For years he
operated a blacksmith shop in New Knoxville but two years ago
had left his shop here to take up work in the New Bremen
Streine Tool and Manufacturing Company plant. He was a
lifelong member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church
where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock CWT on
Friday afternoon, preceded by services at the home. Dr. D. A.
Bode will officiate and burial will be made in Pilger Ruhe
Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7 to 9
o'clock.

76, 212 N. Walnut Street, New Bremen, died at 4:45 a.m. today
in Memorial township hospital from complications. He had been
in ill health some time. Mr. Schierholt was employed at the
Stamco Manufacturing Co in New Bremen until three years ago
when he retired because of his health. He was born May 9,
1881 in Mercer County the son of the late John and Katherine
Toneges Schierholt. He married Emma Wittenbrink on February
18, 1911. Surviving with his wife in one daughter, Mrs.
Raymond (Lilas) WATTERCUTTER of New Bremen. Mr. Scierholt and
his wife have made their home the last three years with their
son-in-law and daughter. Mr. Schierholt is the last member of

Chrisopher, age 63, wife of Clark H. Christopher died at 8:30
o'clock Saturday evening at the family residence at 311 South
Vine street after an illness of three years with a
complication of diseases. She had been bedfast for the last
five days. Mrs. Christopher had lived in St. Marys since
1915, when the family moved here from Hardin county. During
her years of local residence she had won many friends. Mrs.
Christopher was a daughter of the late John D. and Minnie
Latson Miller. She was born in Logan county on July 20, 1879.
On December 24, 1896, she was married to Clark H. Christopher
who survives her together with their three children, Mrs.
Harry MCPHERON, Harry Christopher and William Christopher,
all of St. Marys. Two children, Opal MATHEWSON and Rexie
Christopher preceded her in death. Besides her husband and
three children, Mrs. Christopher leaves to mourn her death
six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and three brothers,
Roy Miller, South Bend, Ind., Elmer Miller, Dayton, and John
Miller, Address unknown. She was a member of the Woman's
Relief Corps. Mrs. Christopher had been a member of the
Latter Day Saints church since March 6, 1921. Funeral
services are arranged for Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock
EWT at the residence and at 2 o'clock EWT at the United
Brethren church. The Rev. W. S. Hettrick of Bradner, O., will
officiate and burial will be made in Elmgrove cemetery. On

pronounced dead on arrival Sunday at 4:15 a.m. at Lima
Memorial hospital of injuries suffered in a car-truck
collision at the interchange of old route 33 and U.S. 75. Her
death was attributed to a fractured skull......Miss
Helmlinger resided at 511 Washington street, Wapakoneta. She
was the daughter of Edwin and Violet West Helmlinger of the
same address. She was born September 18, 1946 in Lima. She
was a member of the First Methodist church in Wapakoneta and
was a graduate of Wapakoneta high school with the class of
1964. She was an employee of the Fisher Cheese Co.,
Wapakoneta. Surviving in addition to her parents are two
brothers, Marion E. serving with the U. S. Air Force, England

Frank Wood, age 54, R.R.1, St. Marys, former captain of the
St. Marys fire department died suddenly at 9 p.m. Sunday at
Wan Wert County hospital, Van Wert. He had been taken there
two hours earlier from the Van Wert County fairgrounds where
he was stricken ill. He had gone to the Fair to show his
ponies. Mr. Wood served 25 years in the St. Marys fire
department. In March , 1964, he retired because of ill
health. He devoted his time then to raising ponies and saddle
horses at a farm on the Townline-Kossuth road, R.R.1, and had
gained a reputation off fine breeds. He was born Jan. 9, 1911
in northern Auglaize county, the son of Franklin and Alamedea
Graham Wood. In 1927 he married Marie Burden who died Oct.
11, 1943. On May 28, 1951 he married Drusilla Kennedy who is
left to mourn his death with two sons, David Wood, R.R. 1,
St. Marys and Paul Wood, Delaware, O, and one daughter, Kathy
Wood at home, nine grandchildren, two brothers, Harry and
Edward Wood, both of Spencerville, a half-brother, Robert

70, of Defiance street, Wapakoneta, formerly of St. Marys,
died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rita's hospital, Lima where
she had been under treatment two weeks. She suffered a stroke
three weeks age and had been ? ill since then. Mrs. Elliott
was the former Adella Fisher. She was born July 29, 1896 in

On Nov. 5, 1919, she was married to Richard Elliott who is
presently in the intensive care ward of St. Rita's hospital,
Lima for treatment of a heart attack. Surviving Mrs. Elliott

baseball in the Sidney area. He was an avid outdoorsman who
enjoyed fishing and coon hunting and was well known for his
mushroom hunting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynwood
with the Rev. Oscar Seger officiating. Burial will follow at
the St. Thomas Cemetery in Glynwood. Friends may call from 3

auctioneer and farmer of the Mendon community for many years,
died Tuesday afternoon at Lima Memorial hospital. He had been
a patient of the hospital for one day but had been in failing
health for six weeks. A native of Auglaize County, Mr. Haller
was born in 1881, the son of George and Amelia Robinson
Haller. In 1903 he married Minnie Ruck who died in 1958. He

Surviving are two sons, Merle, Columbus and Clayton,
Mansfield, and two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Emaline) JOHN of
Elida and Miss Nettina Haller, at home. Also surviving are 7
grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral rites will
take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Ross Church of the
Brethren. The W.H. Dick and Sons funeral home, Mendon, is in

Mrs. Caroline Fredericka Schmidt, age 80, R.R.2, Wapakoneta,
died at 10:15 a.m. today at her home south of Moulton of the
Moulton-New Knoxville road. She had been ill for the last six
weeks. Mrs. Schmidt was born Nov. 17, 1884 in New Knoxville,
the daughter of August and Sophia Schroer Stork. On April 28,
1904, she was married to Rudolph Schmidt who preceded her in
death on Feb. 16, 1941. Surviving her are two sons, Landis
L., 43 North Kenilworth, Lima, and G. Arlin Schmidt, R.R.2,
Wapakoneta; one brother, William A. Stork, Bellefontaine; two
grandchildren, Thomas Schmidt and Mrs. Thomas (Neila)
BREDEHOFT, both of Lima, seven great grandchildren, George,
Thad, and John Bredehoft, David, Ann, Susan and Lynn Schmidt.
Three sisters, Anna, Cora and Bertha are deceased. Mrs.
Schmidt was a lifelong member of the First United Church of
Christ, New Knoxville. She had lived south of Moulton since

Information: Charles A. "Chip" Koehl, 87, died at
11:30 this morning at the Auglaize County Home, where he had
been a resident for a number of years. He died of
complications following an extended illness. "Chip"
was born in Bradford, Ohio, on November 29, 1877. He lived in
St. Marys for a number of years before moving to Wapakoneta
in 1905. He married Margaret Ann Glynn in November 1902. She
died in 1955. Mr. Koehl is survived by a son, Edgar Koehl,
135 West Green Street Englewood, Fla. and one daughter, Mrs.
Louie (Ina) BRAUN, 508 Pearl Street, Wapakoneta. A number of
grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. One
sister, Mrs. Edna HERBST, lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was
a conductor for the Western Ohio Railroad for years. In fact,
he served on the first interurban car to leave Wapakoneta and
served too on the final run in 1932. Mr. Koehl had been a
member of the Zion Lutheran church, St. Marys. He also held a
membership in the Elks Club of Wapakoneta. After his
retirement from the railroad, he was clerk of courts of
Auglaize County for one term. He was also county recorder for
two terms. Funeral services will be held at the Heinl and Son
Funeral Home, Wapakoneta at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be
in the Elmgrove Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends may call at the
Heinl and Son Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, after 2 p.m.

Miller, age 70, 321 Augustus Street, wife of Ray W. Miller,
died at 6:25 a.m. today at Joint Township Memorial Hospital.
Her death occurred following an extended illness. Mrs. Miller
was a native of Wapakoneta, born threr on Jan. 3, 1895 as a
daughter of the late Ernest and Emma Seifert Elliott. On
August 19, 1920 she was married to Ray W. Miller with whom
she observed their 45th wedding anniversary this month.
Surviving in addition to her husband, who has devotedly
assisted in her care, are a brother, Richard Elliott, R.R.2,
Wapakoneta and a sister, Mrs. Leonard KOHLER, R.R.1,
Wapakoneta. There are a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. and
Mrs. Miller moved to Toledo in 1926. In 1948 they moved to
St. Marys when Mr. Miller was transferred here as manager of
the Prudential Insurance Company office. She was a graduate
of Blume High School, Wapakoneta, with the class of 1912. She
was a member of the Methodist church here and of Collingwood
Chapter 196, Order of Eastern Stars, Toledo. Funeral services
will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Vore and Folk
Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce B. Wendt officiating. Burial
will take place in Greenlawn cemetery at Wapakoneta. Friends

Home. The retired farmer was 98 years old. Born June 2, 1874,
in Auglaize County, he was the son of Abram and Lucy Shaw
Brentlinger. On December 23, 1893, he was married to Glendasy
Martin who passed away in 1936. Two children survive, Carson
Brentlinger of Burbank, California, and Mrs. Garner
(Elizabeth) GABERDEIL, Hemit, California; also four
grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ada CARTER, R.R.6,
Wapakoneta, and one brother, W.D. Brentlinger, R.R.6,
Wapakoneta, one son and two brothers preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church,

507 Perry St. Wapakoneta, died at 7:45 a.m. today in St.
Rita's Hospital, Lima. He had been a patient there for the
past eight days. Death was due to complications after a two
week illness. Born March 14, 1983, in Wapakoneta, he was the
son of Michael and Mary Anderlohr Weis. He made his home with
his only surviving brother, Joseph Weis, Sr. Surviving are a
nephew, Joseph Weis, Jr. of Wapakoneta and three nieces,
Mrs. Helen KENNEDY of here and Mrs. Howard (Jeannette) CRAIG
and Mrs. Mamie WOLF of Wapakoneta. Three brothers, two
sisters and three half sisters are deceased. Mr. Weis was a
retired County Highway worker. He was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church an the Holy Name Society of the church. He
belonged to the Wapakoneta Fraternal Order of Eagles for the
past 63 years. A funeral mass will be offered at 10 a.m.

a.m. Monday. She had been ill for quite some time and a

Whetstone. Both parents reside in Buckland. She was married
to Richard Thuman on October 12, 1940. Her husband survives

Moore, age 54, of 327 1/2 South Wayne Street, died Tuesday at
12:20 p.m. at Joint Township Memorial hospital. He had been a
patient there 22 days, ailing with a heart condition. He was
born December 29, 1913 in Wayland, Kentucky, the son of Isom
Moore of Southgate, Michigan, and the late Anna Jones Moore.
On August 29, 1933, he married Inzie Stumbo. She survivies
with a daughter, Miss Anna Moore at home, a son, James Moore,
Fairborn, O., one granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Moore,
Fairborn, a sister, Mrs. Roy (Audrey) Smith, Pisco,
Kentucky, and two brothers, Sherman and Harold Moore, both of
Southgate, Michigan. A brother, Herman, and a sister, Edna
are deceased. Mr. Moore moved to St. Marys fifteen years ago
from McDowell, Kentucky. He workede in the pressroom at
Goodyear for the past 14 1/2 years. He was an associate

in ill health for several years. Born in St. Marys, September
2, 1891, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Jamison
Werts, He had resided in Russells Point for 30 years before
moving to St. Marys. In April of 1934 he married Mollie
Woehner, who died in 1964. Surviving are his sister, Mrs.

from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Those wishing to give memorial

Obituary / Additional Information: John Herbert
WINEGARDNER, son of Anthony and Katherine WINEGARDNER, was
born in Perry county, Ohio, on April 6, 1847, and departed
this life Sept. 30, aged 79 years, five months and 24 days.
When a small child he moved with his parents to Auglaize
county. At the age of 25 he was united in marriage to Sarah
GILROY, of Auglaize county. To this union were born ten
children, eight sons and two daughters, the wife and six sons
having preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn their loss
two sons, Osburn, of Russell Point, and Floyd, of
Bellefontaine; Mrs. Blanche WARD and Miss Maude WINEGARDNER,
both of Bellefontaine, four grandchildren, Chalmer, of
Cleveland, Ohio; Leora, of Washington, D.C.; Hazel of Piqua,
Ohio, and Jaunetta of Bellefontaine; also one brother, Frank,
of New York, three sisters, Rosa CASTENIAN, of Los Angeles,
Cal.; Edith ATKINSON, of Lima, Ohio, and Sarah ATKINSON, of
Waynesfield, Ohio. Also a host of relatives and friends. He
was a member of the Church of Christ at Waynesfield. Before
moving to Bellefontaine he was engaged in successful farming
until about eight years ago, when his health began to fail
and the last six weeks he had suffered intensely, but his
last words were "God's will be done in all
things."(At last.)
