Obituary / Additional Information:
Taken from an article on the Fairview church: The first pang
(of sorrow) was caused by the loss by death of one who had
been an attendant at the church all her life, Mrs. J.A. Fike.
When she passed away whe was in the full bloom of young
womanhood, having only arrived at her 25th year on the 27th
of the previous January, the date of her death being August
10, 1899. The funeral was a very large one, a great concourse
of her old friends and neighbors meeting in the M.E. church
on the Sunday afternoon. The Rev. T.R. Quayle made a
statement concerning her decision for Christ two years
previously and The Rev. Mr. Marquith, an old friend of the
family preached the funeral sermon. She had been married to
Isam Fike on Nov. 28, 1894 and left behind her two little
children. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. McMillen.

article: Mrs. Schneble had given birth to her third child
about two weeks previously and had become very despondant.
All that medical science could do had been done & every
precaution was taken. Her sister had been waiting on her
since the birth of the child and while the family was
sleeping between 1 and 2 a.m., Mrs. Schneble quietly left the
premises. When her sister went to check on her, the husband
arose an alarm and all the neighborhood searched until
daylight when it was decided that she plunged into the canal.
The water was let out between locks 11 and 12 where she was
found just south of the South street bridge. The remains were
viewed by Squire Henderson & then prepared for shipment
to the Schneble's former home at Dayton. They had lived in
St. Marys for about three years, he being employed at the St.
Marys Machine shops. She was a favorite among her
acquaintances, being a most estimable young lady.

Snowden, a colored man, was found dead with a broken neck on
South Front Street. The general opinion was that he had
fallen while in a drunken and dazed condition and hit his
head on the electric light pole. The body was viewed by
Coroner Hunter and turned over to Vore's undertaking
establishment until the inquest. Snowden came to St. Marys
several months ago and lived for some time in the north part
of town working at anything he could do. He did not seem to
be able to get much work and his wife (a white woman)
returned to Toledo where she claimed she could procure work.
Snowden also has a sister in Cleveland.

ruary 1881, in this place, John J. Moser.
John Jacob Moser, born March 24th,
1823 in Lincolnsheine, Alsace, France,
he carried on a prosperous business
in Lyons, France, for many years until in
1851, he was forced to flee the country

canism, and active efforts to defeat the
Coup D'etat. It was during this revo-
lutionary struggle that he first became
acquainted with the late Gen'l. Willich.
After a sojourn of two years in Spain,

MOSER - Mrs. Salme Moser, on Mon-
day, July 3, 1882, aged 59 years, 5
months and 3 days.
Mrs. Moser was born on the 30th of
January, 1823, in Kehl Grossherzog in
Baden; was united in marriage to J. J.
Moser in 1843.
She had seen the suns set in many
lands, France, Switzerland and Spain.
In 1852 with her husband she emigrated
to America, where they remained for a
time in New York; thence they re-
moved to Brooklyn; then to New Jer-
sey; then to Cincinnati; then to Mos-
cow, Ohio, and finally, in 1861, the fam-
ily settled in Wapakoneta, where she re-
mained surrounded by her family and
friends until her death. She was the
mother of nine children six of whom,
four daughters and two sons, survive her.
The family of which Mr. J. J. Moser,
who died about a year ago, was the head,
is one of the best and most highly re-
spected in the entire community. With
the departure of the mother all that re-
main are only the children now all
grown to manhood and womanhood.
In the loneliness and the great sorrow
with which they must be feel bowed down
at losing within so short a time both
father and mother, they have they sym-
pathy of the entire community.
She was a lady universally respected
and esteemed on account of her many
womanly qualities to which were added
a quiet, retiring disposition, devotion to
home, love for her children and consid-
eration for her friends. Peace to her
ashes.
Funeral services were held at her late
residence on Auglaize street, Rev. Burk-
hart officiating.
