Additional: Shepherd Botkin, age 87, retired oil field worker, died at 7 o'clock this morning at his home at 516 Hendricks Avenue. He had been ill four days, suffering with a complication of diseases. Mr. Botkin was a member of a pioneer family of this community and was widely known. He was born in Shelby county on April 1, 1862, the son of John and Malinda Botkin, but had lived most of his life in this community, the family having moved here in 1870. On May 11, 1898, he married Minnie Lietz with whom he had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary last year. He was the last member of his family and his only survivor is his widow. For years he worked in the oil field about here. Funeral services are arranged for 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Vore & Folk Funeral Home with the Rev. W.H. Huber officiating. Burial will be in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening, Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday until the hour of the services.
