Additional: Lowell R. Graessle, 93, of Otterbein-Cridersville, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Shawnee Manor. He was born March 6, 1907, in Auglaize County to Philip and Lorena (Zimmerman) Graessle. On July 23, 1945, he married Helen R. Reed, who died March 26, 1992. Survivors include one brother, Kermit D. (Ruth) Graessle of Lima; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard, Carl, Robert, Andrew and Frederick Graessle; three sisters, Mae Graessle, Lela Place and Edna Ramga. Mr. Graessle worked and retired from the Ohio State Highway Department, Lima District, as a civil engineer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. He had attended Spencerville High School, Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, Mich., Michigan College of Mining and Technology, Ohio Northern University, and The Ohio State University. He was a registered professional civil engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in Hawaii and the Aleutian Islands. He was also a member of the Bowersock Bros. V.F.W. Post 6772 in Spencerville, the Ohio Historical Society, the National Society of Engineers and the American Red Cross. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta with the Rev. G. Richard Bell officiating. Burial followed in the Spencerville Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Spencerville V.F.W. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Northern University, College of Engineering or the American Red Cross.
