Additional: The Rev. Cletus J. Hawkey, 77, 529 N. Wagner Ave, died at home, today, Oct. 26, 1999, at 3:45 a.m. He was born Aug 6, 1922, in Wapakoneta, son of Charles F. and Nancy Mae (Burden) Hawkey. On Dec. 23, 1943, he married the former Nova R. Jones. She survives with three sons, Jim and Dennis, both of Dayton, and Orlie of Sidney, and a daughter, Mrs. Carlus (Carol) Lovett of Richmond, Indiana, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Ritter of Lockington, and Mrs. Nancy Staley of Wapakoneta; four brothers, Orville, of St. Marys, Charles of Wapakoneta, Thomas of Paulding, and John of Wapakoneta. A sister and a brother preceded him in death. Rev. Hawkey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1986 from American Management in Dayton. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for the past 10 years and was the minister at Faith Baptist Church on Millcreek Road seven years. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Parsons, the Rev. Dave Shepherd and the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church building fund or Wilson Hospice Care.
