Additional: J. Wilson Monnin, 85, 167 E. Fifth St., Minster, died at 6:20 a.m. Friday at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster. He was born June 25, 1915, in Russia, to Leonard and Winifred (Francis) Monnin. On June 24, 1939, he married Violet Marshall, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Betty and Ron Eiting, Minster, and Rose and Dale Marchal, Englewood; six sons and their wives, Ken and Janet, Tony and Judy, Vic and Wanda, Lenny and Diane, and Mike and Connie, all of Russia, and Wilson and Peggy of Sidney; a son, Dan of Sidney; two sisters and their husbands, Gertrude and Jacob Martin, Piqua, and Marcella and Bill DUNKEL, Russia; a sister, Mary Ann SIMON, Versailles; two brothers and their wives, Stanley and Judy of Cincinnati, and Dave and Sandy of South Carolina; a brother, Cecil of Versailles; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Deceased are two sons, Richard and Joseph, four brothers and three sisters. He was retired from NCR Corp., Dayton, farmed, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a former Russia Local Schools board member and served on the Civil Conservation Corps. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391, both of Minster, Knights of Columbus and Catholic War Veterans, both of Russia, and Newport Sportsman Club. He was a former member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Newport. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Rev. William Hoyng officiating. Burial is at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Newport. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:30 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. Contributions can be made to Darke-Mercer County Hospice.
