Additional: New Knoxville—Rev. Richard B. Meckstroth, 92, of 209 W. Spring St., died at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born May 26, 1891, in Auglaize County, to Charles and Anna Lammers Meckstroth. In 1918, he married Hulda Oelrich, who died in 1936. In 1938, he married Ruth Kattman Dro, who died in 1976. Surviving are two sons, Donald Meckstroth of Shaker Heights and Richard Meckstroth of Houston, Texas; two foster daughters, Mary Castleberry of Charlotte, N.C. and Barbara Cooley of Gary, Ind; seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; a brother, Jacob Meckstroth of Columbus; and a sister, Meta Hoge of New Knoxville. Rev. Meckstroth graduated with a AB degree from Ohio State University in 1916 and was a graduate of Central Theological Seminary Dayton. He was ordained as a minister in 1918. Following his retirement in 1959, he served as an intern pastor in 13 area churches. He was honored in 1976 as New Knoxville Citizen of the Year. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, Rev. Roger Perl of Tiffin, officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday until time of services. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call at the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Knxoville, from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the church or to the American Heart Association.
