Additional: Shawn Allen McAlpin, 23, Hardin Road, Ada, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at the Arthur James Cancer Center in Columbus. He was born June 16, 1977, in Athens, the son of James D. and Diana S. (Simerly) McAlpin, both of whom survive in Ada. Other survivors include his fiancée, Jessica Douglas of Wapakoneta; a son, Austin Allen McAlpin of Wapakoneta; a sister Shanna L. Campbell of Ada, his maternal grandmother Thelma Simerly of Glouster; and numerous aunts and uncles. Mr. McAlpin worked with the House Doctor in Wapakoneta. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 330, Wapakoneta. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Ther family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the James Cancer Center.
