Additional: Rachel Marian Scheer, 70, of 4130 N. Bluewater Road, Hernando, Florida, and formerly of New Bremen, died Sunday, September 27, 1992 at 9:40 a.m. at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, Florida, following a lengthy illness. She was born July 24, 1922, in New Knoxville, the daughter of George W. and Sara M. (Haberkamp) Katterheinrich. On February 2, 1946, she married Lafe (Jack) Scheer Jr. who survives in Florida. Survivors also include two daughters, Mrs. William (Joann) Schweissguth and Mrs. Frank (Judyth) Cook both of Marthasville, Missouri; three sons, Jerry G. Scheer of Indianapolis, Indiana, John G. Scheer of Tracy, California, and Jerry T. Scheer of New Bremen; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jack R. Scheer and two brothers, Howard and Willis Katterheinrich. Mrs. Scheer was a co-owner of Scheer's Carry Out, New Bremen. She was also employed by the New Bremen High School, Lampert's Supermarket and STAMCO, all in New Bremen and Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster. She was a 1940 graduate of New Knoxville High School and a 1941 graduate of St. Wayne Business College, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, when she resided in New Bremen. She had been a resident of Florida since 1989, She attended the Hernando United Methodist Church, Hernando, Florida. Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, with Rev. Jeffery R. Gerber officiating. Burial will be in the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. The body has been cremated. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
